Marco Ramirez resigns at Schurr after a three year run

By Tim Peterson

(Montebello) – Marco Ramirez has stepped down as the head coach at Schurr after three seasons.

Ramirez guided the Spartans to the playoffs in two of his three years at the helm. In 2013, Schurr advanced to the second round of the Mid-Valley Division playoffs before losing to Arroyo. They beat Viewpoint in the first round. In 2012, the Spartans lost to San Marino in the first round.

Ramirez was 14-19 overall and finished 4-6 overall this past season. Ramirez took over a program that went 3-7 in Ben Negrete’s final year in 2011.

“I officially resigned at 11:30 Friday morning after a brief meeting with my principal,” Ramirez said. “I resigned because of lack of administrative support.”

No successor has been officially named but former Bell Gardens Head Coach David Ramos is expected to be announced as early as Monday multiple sources have confirmed.
