Harvard-Westlake survived last week while La Serna rolled. The Wolverines have escaped several close calls this year while advancing to the second round. La Serna just looks more explosive. The Lancers will outscore Harvard-Westlake. La Serna wins.

Burroughs (10-1) at St. Francis (8-3)
Both teams had tougher than expected first round games. The Golden Knights got by Warren by two while the Indians had to battle to subdue Norwalk by a touchdown. It could come down to a late turnover and a field goal. St. Francis gets the edge at home.

Cathedral (10-1) at Downey (7-4)
Is this game actually becoming a rivalry? Last year Downey took out Cathedral on its way to a Southeast Division Final appearance. The trash talk hasn’t stopped since. The Vikings get Cathedral at home in what is expected to be a packed house. The Phantoms have lost only once all year – at St. Francis – and now seem to be hitting their stride. They have scored 103 points in their last two games. Cathedral doesn’t miss this opportunity. The Phantoms are just too talented.

La Mirada (8-3) at Dominguez (8-3)
If Dominguez can create a couple of turnovers and run the ball and then gain control with an early lead, the Dons might be able too…nah, who am I kidding? La Mirada rolls. Did you know the Matadores have scored at least 52 points in their last seven games? They are showing no signs of letting up. The only question is will they put up 52 again? I’ll say no but it’s still a rout.
