(La Canada) – Koko Kurdoghlian scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and Grant Arthur dropped in 11 to lead La Canada to a 50-38 win over Bonita Friday at the La Canada Tournament.
The Spartans held the Bearcats to 11 points in first half and maintained control throughout the contest. Sean Estes added nine points for LC.
Tyler Poepping led Bonita in the scoring column with 14 points, Joe Quintana had 10, and Andrew Williams contributed eight. Anthony Cascarano chipped in four assists and four boards for Bonita.
La Canada yielded just 11 points and led Bonita 26-11 at the break before fending them off in the second half on to a 50-38 victory.
It will be a battle of Spartans for the La Canada Holiday Classic championship this Saturday evening, as the host LC Spartans will take on the Damien Spartans. Game time is 7:30pm.
Bonita will be contesting St. Francis for 3rd place at 6:00 p.m. while the 5th-place (4:30 p.m.) and 7th-place (3:00 p.m.) games will match up Renaissance Academy and Glendale, and tournament-winless Arcadia and Ribet Academy, respectively.
