Los Angeles) – GoldenBoy Promotions kicked off its 1st LA Fight Club event of 2016. In what has become a staple for the company to display its local talent, a sold out crowd was on hand at the Belasco Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles.
In the Co-Main event La Puente’s Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez faced Carlos Valcarcel in a ten round featherweight match-up. Late in the 1st Lopez did a slight dance after absorbing a flush uppercut from Valcarcel. The fight had some solid toe to toe action with Lopez getting the better of the exchanges. Lopez found a home with the left hook upstairs and to the body in the 3rd. At the end of the seventh Valcarcel seemed wary after taking a series of body shots. Valcarcel did not come out for the 8th, Lopez came away with 7th RTD to improve to 20-0-1.
In the nights main event Julian”El Camaron” Ramirez (16-0) took on the always game Chris Martin. Ramirez looked solid in a ten round unanimous decision victory. Ramirez moved well, jabbed and controlled the distance in the 1st. Ramirez straight left was his most effective punch. He backed Martin up all night mixing up his attack, landing the straight left, right uppercut on numerous occasions. Ramirez’ clear decision against a tough veteran like Martin is the kind of fight which will ultimately help to prepare him for the next class of future opponents.
