(Carson) The L.A. Galaxy and Santos Laguna played 90 plus minutes but neither team could find the back of the net and had to settle for a 0-0 draw Wednesday night before a crowd of more than 18,000 at the Stubhub Center. The match was the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.The Galaxy were out shot 5-3 in shots on goal by Santos and were out possessed time wise 57 to 43 percent.
Santos for the most part dominated the statistics but the Galaxy defense was up to the task when it came to keep Santos out of the net. Dan Kennedy stopped all three shots that got all the way through to him.

The Galaxy had their best chances at breaking the tie with more than 70 minutes gone in the match. Steven Gerrard got his head on a cross in from of the Santos goal but was unable to direct it in. A few minutes late Giovani dos Santos drove deep into the box but his pass couldn’t find the foot of Sebastian Lletget.
The two teams will hook up again next Tuesday in Torreon, Mexico to see who will advance to the semifinal round.
