1. Dodger pitcher Clayton Kershaw will leave the team’s current road trip and return home to have his lower back stiffness further examined. Dodger manager Dave Roberts remains hopeful that Kershaw will make his next scheduled start Friday night at home against Colorado.

2. The Seattle Seahawks sign receiver Doug Baldwin to a four-year, $46 million extension.

3. Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton, 26, dies after accidentally shooting himself in Detroit. Tipton appeared in 16 games over the last two seasons with the Colts.

4. The Philadelphia 76ers intend to make a serious push for Golden State Warriors free agent Harrison Barnes.

5. Former LA Kings goaltender Rogie Vachon is elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

6. Former USC broadcaster Tom Kelly passed away Monday at the age of 88. Kelly began calling USC football and basketball games on the radio in 1961 and later moved to TV. He then returned to do USC radio broadcasts from 1973-1988. He continued to host sports magazine shows on television before retiring permanently in 2003.

7. Coastal Carolina beats Arizona 5-4 to tie the best of three College World Series at one game each. Game three is tonight.

9. Los Altos at San Marino, Friday night August 26.

10. On this day in 1990, the Dodgers’ Fernando Valenzuela and Oakland’s Dave Stewart both throw no hitters. After Valenzuela’s 6-0 no hitter over the St. Louis Cardinals Vin Scully says “If you have a sombrero throw it to the sky!”
