2. Washington State quarterback Luke Falk will remain at school for his senior year rather than enter the NFL draft.

3. Gymnast Simone Biles is named the AP female athlete of the year.

4. Tennessee Titan quarterback Marcus Mariota will have surgery for the broken right leg he suffered Sunday against Jacksonville and is expected to be out four to five months.

5. New York Knicks President Phil Jackson and Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss announce that they have ended their engagement.

6. The Lakers fall to Utah 102-100 Tuesday night and drop to 12-23 on the season.

7. Former Burbank running back James “Boobie” Williams had just four carries for 12 yards for Washington State in the Holiday Bowl Tuesday night. He also caught a pass for 29 yards.

8. The Houston Texans announce that they will stick with Tom Savage at quarterback for Sunday’s game against Tennessee. Savage started in place of Brock Osweiler last week  against Cincinnati.

9. On this date in 1975 Roger Staubach throws a desperate 50-yard touchdown pass to Drew Pearson with 32 seconds left to lift the Dallas Cowboys to a win over the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC Divisional playoff game. The “Hail Mary” play is born.

10. Happy Birthday to former Memphis State star Keith Lee who turns 54 today.
