Diamond Bar Names Argumosa

By Tim Peterson

(Diamond Bar) – Kevin Argumosa, who was the defensive coordinator at Los Altos last season, was named the new head coach at Diamond Bar Friday multiple sources confirmed.

Argumosa, who has been a long time assistant, also announced his hiring on Twitter. Argumosa takes over for Marcus Hughes who stepped down after three years. The Brahmas haven’t made the playoffs since 2013, which was Ryan Maine’s final year. Last year Diamond Bar finished 4-6 overall and 1-4 in the Palomares League.

Argumosa presided over a Los Altos defense in 2016 that advanced all the way to the CIF Finals before the Conquerors fell to Paraclete. Rumors abound that former Los Altos HC Dale Ziola will join Argumosa’s staff.

Great hire for DB. Although, DB has some admin issues that could stand in the way of success, lets hope not.

Interesting that los Altos didn’t promote him? Are you kidding? lol obviously you don’t know anything about that district, their loss, Diamond Bar’s gain! Argumosa has a winning record both on the field and off, he teaches fundamentals of self and team on the field and off. This will be a season to watch!

Diamond Bar got a great hire. The LA D was always intense and well prepared. If the LA staff is following then it only shows how tight they are as a coaching staff. There was never anything dirty, cheap or undisciplined. The LA defense was all about being tough, physical and well disciplined while Argumosa was at the helm. Tough to see him go. Wish the LA admin could have done something but seems that there are other factors going on at LA. The Intensity at Diamond Bar just risen. Good luck to the new staff at LA and to the Brahmas on your new hire. This guy will bring it.

If Ziola is indeed coming along for the ride, it shows that the coaching situation at LA had become intolerable, and now the two former Conqueror coaches can begin the process of wearing out their welcomes at this latest stop.
