Don lugo beats Monrovia by atleast 20 . Monrovia kitty cats are going down the drain fast . Coaching is terrible . they have arguably the best receivers in SGV and don’t give them the ball . Can’t rely on mr rams IV soo much . Or maybe washington is trash . Who knows , one thing I do know is something needs to change or I see nobody going D1 out of there any time soon

Weekend games I will attend: Montebello-Whittier. Whittier’s defense will give Montebello’s offense a good test. In two games Whittier has held two fair teams to 26 points total. I have Montebello 24-17. Friday I will check out Walnut-South El Monte. Walnut is still a Hacienda League team and is very used to banging heads. Until a lower division team like SEM proves me wrong I’m thinking Walnut 31-20.

I am an ER fan but I also look at football realistically. Norwalk manhandled ER and we were getting worked by a BG team that we beat by 50 points last year. So going 5-0 in league would be nice but don’t bet on it unless you get long odds. One glaring weakness is ER’s tiny DB’s. This weeks opponent Pomona exploited that weakness in the summer’s 7-7 with their big WR’s. They probably will do it again on Friday. Our answer has to be to pressure the QB but you don’t need a lot of time to toss jump balls. The other answer is our own offense. Get going early and keep the penalties down especially the personal fouls.

    PR,
A monsoon?? Wasn’t the final ER 42 BG 34? Isn’t that just 8 points? Isn’t that just one score? Your definition of a monsoon and my definition are two different things. If BG is scoring 34 on you La Serna will truly show you what a monsoon looks like!

Anonymous- Fair enough. But keep in mind Muir shutout those two opponents on the road…not an easy task. And one of those opponents, Compton, turned around and beat LA Hawkins 68-0 the next week. Like you said though, let’s see how they fare the next few weeks vs. LaSalle, Arcadia, and CV.

Cathedral #1?? You guys are drinking the Kool aid. Guys, they beat a Division 11 and a Division 10 team add to that they’re playing a Div 11 team. Need I remind you guys Cathedral is a division 2 team. In what world do you justify that. Bryce Young is good but is the most overrated over hyped kid simply because he doesn’t play anyone. He should Throw for a billion yards. Heres my assessment, happy feet! hes running when he doesn’t have to wait til he sees a real pass rush. Coach Pee will never test his team its more important to him to throw for 1,000,000 yards so he looks like genius haha. but the early playoff exits confirm the truth. hes a phony. La Mirada plays OLU and Bosco We play Hart yet they play Santa fe… joke! Can you imagine if Bishop Amat decided to play a preseason schedule with Aroyo, Montebello and Bosco tech? you guys would all laugh, but Cathedral doesn’t and they get a #1 ranking!

With Daniel Faamaotau and Brionne Penny Norwalk is playing real football. No trick plays or passes on the edges for two yards. Penny has shown leadership and toughness and Faamaotau epitomizes that toughness with 240lbs and 6ft. of trouble. I don’t believe Norwalk knew what they had because they scheduled way down this year. Without stiff competition you will have trouble identifying your weaknesses. That said Norwalk is very good.

How do the Lancers make “a big jump by beating Troy”? Troy was win less and just got destroyed by Fountain Valley. Plus, La Serna had to come back to beat Troy! La Serna should’ve beat Troy by three or four touchdowns, but….
La Serna is still the cream of the crop in the Del Rio, Santa Fe is in shambles, Cal has some guys but no leadership, and El Rancho struggled against Bell Gardens which is a smaller and younger version of La Serna.

Yes The Saints are very average, but their average is better than many other local teams and they deserve to be on the list. Long Beach Wilson is an Average team from Division 5. They were Quarter Finalist and lost to Los Altos by 2-points. last year. They did not give up and roll over like many school do.

Facetiously, what happened to the original Mid-Valley picks? Local teams, good competition, great discussions about each league, it was fun. If I want read about Cathedral, Amat, St. Francis,St. Paul and La Salle, I can pick up the “SGV-Tidings” or “Pasadena Saintly News”.

San Dimas did not lose a shootout they were getting blow out and scored a couple late TD to make it respectable. This is a very average San Dimas team.
