    @ Pac 5 Scout: I believe it’s quite possible for a great coach not to have league titles and a lot of playoff appearances.
    At certain schools, or during a certain period of time, a head coach may not be blessed with a lot of “home-grown” talent. That problem is exacerbated if the coach in question takes the high road and decides not to actively recruit players from other public schools’ attendance areas.
    There are other factors, too, such as support (or the lack thereof) from the district administration, school administrators, parents, and the booster club or community.
    And, in the end, it’s up to the players to make a commitment to attend every practice and team meeting, learn the plays, concentrate, and execute on the field. They must also demonstrate integrity and take ownership of their lives.

    @ SGV Insider: I also agree with what you said. Wins and losses are important, but coaches are leaders and educators as well.
    At Alhambra High, Coach Bergstrom has devoted an enormous amount of time and effort to helping our student-athletes develop into well-rounded people and good citizens. I’m convinced that he also cares just as much about his English and physical education students.

    @ FBFan: You’re right when it comes to the expectations of some Alhambra football fans. They seem to think that it’s still 2006, when we had players like Anthony Brown, Shawn Smith, and Zion Babb (Lance’s older brother).
    We don’t have players of such star caliber right now, although we have some capable guys. AHS also had a better offensive line in ’06, or even as recently as last year.

    Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.

    @Pac5 Scout,
    Got me thinking too. But in the end winning league championships and playoff games are icing on the cake. A good coach is one that develops young men and creates an atmosphere that allows them to strive to be their best on and off the field. Developing them into solid citizens ready to take on what the world will throw at them is what matters. If your a coach that only cares about numbers, titles and trophies then your doing a disservice to the kids and the community. Too many coaches now a days live through their players . It sends the wrong message. Winning is great but it shouldn’t be what defines a coach.

    “Coaches on the hot seat” post got me thinking. Can you be a great high school football coach and have teams that seldom if ever win league championships or playoff games?

    Almont League:
    Alhambra – Coach B has his supporters and non-supporters on this site but ask yourself one question, has the program grown and improved? Answer it honestly and you know it hasn’t. Time for change.

    Del Rio League:
    Cal High – Coach Trudell has been their 4 years, made the playoffs his 1st year but after that has done nothing. Finished no higher then 4th in a league of 6 after his first year. Program has gone backwards since he has taken over, there are a lot of people wondering when he will step down/Cal admin will release him. Needs to happen, Cal use to be a consistent program, not know more.

    Others:
    Chou at Monrovia – lot if talent but no success outside of league
    Lara at Warren – recruited a ton and has not made the playoffs
    Pierson at Santa Fe – underachieving in league and playoffs (1st round exits)

    No Way ramos would be on my list. You win league and there’s no way you should be on the hot seat

    @fbfan

    Ramos has had three seasons at Schurr and each season improved… won league and now the most important year is next season. If he can keep building and manage to keep his offense evolving he should be good. Defensively it’s gonna be rough, but I’m sure those dudes are up for the challenge

    Medrano is great, don’t listen to the idiots who know nothing. Even parents whom weren’t to happy with him agreed he’s the man for the job.

    @Pac 5 Scout

    Kyle Trudell- Cal hasn’t been to the playoffs since he’s been there

    Eric Bergstrom- High/unrealistic expectations from Alhambra fans

    Adrian Medrano- Coach is great 1 day. Terrible the next. ER people are crazy

    Corey Tello- When is the last time WC had such a down season? Did Maggiore foresee this?

    Ibis Aguilar- Lots of rumblings about the negative atmosphere at BoHi

    Mark Parades- Best season in a while but still unrealistic expectations at Damien.

    Matt Castaneda- Kid got a lesson in humility this season.

    Jerry Chou- Won the RHL, but again, the fans are crazy at Monrovia.

    Ryan Jacobson- Rowland has been releagued for a few years now and still no improvement.

    Steve Hagerty- Guy has been very consistent but Amat fans are crazy. The longer you stay at a place, the more haters you acquire. And haters are louder than supporters.

    Good question who is the first coach out? Who underachieved with the most talent? D Bar went 0-10 with better expectations, Bohi had two great freshman classes, 1-9 in league the last two years, and finally WC 1-9 that’s unacceptable. Oh SH is set to make another run.

    Man Get Back Coach aka Chain Gang aka Assistant to the Assistant has been real quiet. Maybe next year he’ll be a little more humble so the whole blogging world isn’t out to get him. Sorry about the loss brah.

    Personally, the only thing I didn’t like was Arroyo blaming the loss on their RB not playing. We will never know what could have been but it’s kinda weak saying what he said.

    As long as their QB can stay out of trouble they’ll be in a good spot next year.

    NOBODY AT THE MVS THINKS SEM IS BETTER THAN ARROYO, IM SURE ARROYO WAS THE FIRST ONE OUT, FOLLOWED BY MTOWN AND THEIR HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL 4-7 SEASON. ANYONE NOTICE THE CLOSER TO THE SGV, THE LOWER THE RANKING?
    From T. Peterson: Arroyo beat SEM head to head. What’s your point?
