Rams pass University Test

Dusty Sanderson hit a three run jack in the sixth to bust it open

(Arcadia) – Temple City scored six runs in the sixth inning to break it open and went on to beat University 8-3 Wednesday at the Apache Invitational.

Dusty Sanderson slammed a three run shot and Evan Stransky hit a two run single to highlight the inning. The Rams sent nine men to the plate in the inning with six of them scoring.

Trailing 3-2, Ruben Jara led off the sixth and hit a ground ball that found its way right through the legs of the shortstop and Troy Brocato came on to run. Jimmy Britt walked and pinch hitter Corey Copping was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Stransky then lofted a base hit into left field to put TC up 4-3. With one out Julian Jarrard singled to right to plate one more and Sanderson followed with a missile over the left field wall. 8-3 Rams, over and out.

“That was a big hit big by Stransky. For him to come in and do that really got us going,” said Temple City Coach Barry Bacon. “And then Dusty finished it with that bomb.”

University used three pitchers in the game. Robert Weller started and worked four innings before being relieved by Kai Lisoskie. Lisoskie pitched one but Andrew McNeill replaced him with the bases loaded in the sixth. Then the wheels came off for the Trojans.

Branden Pultz started and went four for Temple City. He allowed 5 hits and 3 runs. Jonah Jarrard, in his first appearance of the season, came on and gave up just one hit over the last three innings to close it out.

TC got one in the first on a double by Julian Jarrard and a single by Pultz. The Rams went up 2-1 in the second when Jara singled, and Brocato running for Jara, took second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored when the throw to third sailed into left field.

University grabbed the lead back in the fourth on a single by McNeill and consecutive doubles by Joppi Martin and Ian Barwick. The lead was short lived however when the Rams exploded for six.

Temple City will play again tomorrow at a time to be determined. The Rams are 2-0-1 in the tournament so far.
