@FridayKnights let’s talk about scheduling weak TEAMS you win a CIF title in the weakest divisions in CIF then get moved up in divisions and can’t even win one playoff game let’s talk about setting up weak schedules over at Arroyo why not set up a game with Adelanto our maybe Orange Vista or even a San Marino …..look Coach Knights your dominance of the MLV is over You could complain all you want about transfers isn’t going to change a thing get with the times coach oh and I think it is classless to be talking about a kid on a blog and assuming you know his story classless Coach ……… as hard as you try you can’t stop The train that is coming ! At Knights
Every kid has his own tale to tell. Every kid is different. The era of talented kids playing 4 years at one school is becoming rare. I do agree is there is something special about a local kid playing at his local school but as I said, everyone is different. Reyes may not care about a school or its tradition maybe he’s after a challenge maybe he tried and didn’t like it. Only he knows. But 4 schools in 4 years is just a bit much in my opinion. The head coach went to his house??? Can you imagine sitting in the living room of an incoming freshman and all but begging him to come to your school? Hard to keep a kid humble and coachable when your groveling at his feet before he ever took a high school snap.

Get Back Coach. Dang bro you’re a clown. So auto correct misspelled one word. No biggie.

On another note, Arroyo can never complain about anyone in the MVL recruiting. When I was in high school and when I was a coach Arroyo had guys hit up our freshman to transfer. They routinely recruited EM, MV, and SEM kids to go to Arroyo. If you don’t know that then that means you’re are not big enough to recruit and further proves you are a scrub. FIO dummy.

Coach C schedules down? Get your facts straight! St. John Bosco, Los Alamitos, St Paul, Dominguez, Muir? Yeah really scheduling down! Lol!

  6. June 21, 2019 - 11:13 pm | Permalink

Mr. Reyes , I mean no offense here but you can see that it’s hard to believe that your son ends up at the school that is being coached by a guy who has a reputation for RECRUITING. We’ve heard the stories or kids entering EM ineligible and all of sudden miraculously the kids are eligible. They call them the transfer express for a reason. I’m not hating on your son personally, but more so on the recruiting angle that is plaguing our sport now. I do hope he has success but imagine your son digging roots at a school and leaving a mark. Maybe Mt View isn’t Mopunt View if your kid stays there you never know. Look what Booth did at EM all of sudden EM is a contender. SEM had the same success before that, Rosemead had a dynamic QB carry his squad before that. One player if they’re talented enough can make a huge difference. Rather that jumping schools all the time. Imagine Carving out a career in the MVL, like for example Ernesto Camacho, a 3 year starter multiple records, 3 league titles and a CIF Champion.

I have never post on these blogs before , but a friend gave me a heads up about all the comments people have about my son JJ. Im not here to pump him up or talk smack, just here to spit facts. yes last year my son had some issues with grades like many other teenagers through out the years, however he held his own at Los altos for 2 year Coach Spathias, Coach Jerry Urias and Coach Travis Brown and other coaches from teams we played last year, can vouch for this. Coach Jerry Urias is the one who transitioned my son to the corner/DB position which he had never played before and he caught on really quick at the Varsity level. When we moved back and he left Los Altos, the reason and ONLY reason was because he decided he didn’t want to play football and wanted to concentrate on his grades. We didn’t want him going to Mtnview because of friends he got in trouble with previously, we felt would lead to more problems, so we chose el monte because my job is 2 blocks down from the school. Whomever has seen my boy play or have known him through out the years know my boy is humble and is no showoff he just lets his game do the talking, so this year will be no different. He took time off to concentrated on his grades, then made a decision to play. All I can say is a lot of parents, coaches and myself know my boy can play the game so we are excited to see him play, so people on here from rival school can keep saying what they want or make DELETED up, cause at the end of the day anything can happen, my kid gives respect to every opponent. A lot of people here just assume and really don’t know the facts. So just so people know the truth and don’t believe the BS I had to clarify some BS. …… also F.Y.I My boys freshman year he was enrolled at Arroyo high school where he was going to play with his cousins the Nava brothers until Mountainviews varsity coach came to our home and convinced him to come help revive the program and they changed everything to Mopuntainview . ALL FACTS

I hear the reason why JJ left LA is because of the new staff. Daddy ball and chaos was not good for Los Altos and they came in 5th place in a six team league. He did not want any part of that mess so he left. The kids in the last three game quit on the coaching staff. The senior players were heard yelling and cursing at the coaching staff. Not a good environment for winning games.

Maybe they can’t compete with Charter Oak but nice step up vs let’s a Northview or Monrovia or Bonita would’ve been good enough. Remember, the first half of EMs playoff loss? The were simply shell shocked by the speed that were up against. If you prep for it you won’t get caught with your pants down again.

Really? He left Los Altos for EM for the education? Lmfao this is his third school in four years. he’s fueled by Mt View hate? A team which has zero coaches on staff from when Reyes was on the freshman team there! A team which lost by 48 points to EM last year? Just wow! Maybe the stepping up in competition was a bit much so coming back to the MVL was a smart move. No hate wish the kid luck but D5 isn’t for everyone

You guys have 15 MVL titles I could of sworn you had more. We’re here to show our top two teams in the MVL could play with the SGVs best and stop talking down on our league. I’m hoping MVL puts on a show this year.

Anonymous loser- Get sensitive much do ya!!! Lmfao ahhhahahahaha you clown!

Gold and EM folks- Reyes from Los Altos hasn’t played football for two years. Are you guys really hyping this kid up as a difference maker based on his freshman season? I hear he has trouble staying eligible anyway so good luck with that. Oh and to the person claiming EM trying to beef up their schedule which is laughable. I have it on good authority Two teams called EM and the lions declined. So this idea that teams were scared because the wing is “just too physical “ is hilarious. Coach C is very well known to schedule DOWN this way his backs can rack up yards. He’s also got a reputation for not being able to win the big one despite fielding NFL bound players!

The kids that transferred from Los Altos to EM could not even get the grades to play here. He was always ineligible. We don’t need him anyway we got enough guys coming in. We will be playing for a championship when it’s all said and done. El Monte has nothing on us.

from what I heard by mutual friends of his family El Monte player joe Reyes didn’t even want to play football this year and that’s why he left Los Altos. What pumped him up was the hating he was getting from Mtnview admin, coaches trying to hold him down.

Hoping for a even deeper fun than last year 15/16 games and to be healthy. Trust me there was a lot of teams called and declined, physical offense that they don’t see. Can’t complain.

    @EM Alum
Come on!!! Many schools were called and Glen and Sotomayor picked up?? Lmfao
I’m not hating here man but EM is a real team and preparing for the playoffs should be the goal. Maybe the reason why they fell behind 35 points last year was because they were caught by surprise they’d never seen that type of speed before. Eagle Rock is a city league team which is like JV except for Narbonne. Eagle rock Glenn and Sotomayor do nothing for you guys except pad stats. You already have basically off weeks vs SEM, Gabrielino, MtView, Rosemead
Factor in San Marino is nothing compared to last year, where’s the preparation? Great games could’ve been had vs Northview or El Rancho Los Altos Monrovia Bonita etc. win or lose you guys would gain experience that would be priceless come playoff time. 7 or 8 games will be over by halftime 40+ point differential. You don’t prep for deep runs like that. Hopefully weak scheduling doesn’t be your down fall again.

Anonymous is just a bot, his/her/non-binary responses are the same because that’s what he/she/non-binary has been programmed with. It’s like a toy who’s string you pull. Get, back and coach are one of only 6 words it’s programmed to spew out.

EM Alum- We’ll soon find out. I’m hearing the Express is reloading but I think you guys caught lighting in a bottle. The mercenaries will implode once they find out 3-5 touches a game is in their future.

Gold- shopping spree??? I’m confused about that do explain please. I’ve been repeating myself on the fact that Gallardo will forever rue the day he cut ties with the only legitimate coach he had on staff. But be that as it may South has more than two horses. Rosemead isn’t beating them and if they do it won’t be a nice meeting on Monday. Catch my drift!

El Monte is loaded. The transfer from Los Altos, Reyes is the real deal. He will be the best DB in the league and is a great running back the can catch the ball. Arroyo does not look that physical and SEM look bad this year. MV and everyone else in this league is weak. I think with El Monte’s roster they should schedule a better preseason. They have two maybe more D1 guys on there team and they should be able to compete with the Covina’s and West Covina’s of the world. I know the El Monte coach when he was at Chino, he struggled against teams with equal talent, like when he played Adelanto in the playoffs and got lit.

A lot of solid schools were called for games and declined. Glenn was a playoff team and Sotomayor stepped up. Orange Vista (finalist), San Marino (quarterfinals D9) and Eagle Rock (10-1) are 3 solid teams to have in a pre season schedule. Should be a good one.

Anything is better than the the oversized, outdated “vintage” jerseys they wore last year! Maybe, this will help the Knights shopping spree this off season. It’s Gonna take more than what you’re getting to dethrone the Lions.
Speaking of the Lions 7 more transfers… thus far. Booth and Cuevas have company so to speak. Montoya a wr/rb for SEM last year, actually he was their leading rusher last season, also Jimmy Reyes another rb/db from Los Altos. But what is up with the weak sauce schedule? Sotomayor? Glenn? I guess Keppel was occupied those weeks. Come on Coach take the next step, keep those kind of games off the agenda. Oh and Speaking of SEM, word is the coaching staff had a max exodus, Another “New” Offensive Coordinator that makes 5 in three years! The firing of Mooney will forever haunt the rest of Frank Gallardo’s tenure. Anyhow, SEM currently has four coaches on staff and Players are either quitting or transferring out. Eesh
Hearing Rosemead will be improved at least the run game will be improved with an upperclassman humongous Offensive line.
    Gabrielino crickets
    Mountain View same old vikes
    MVL way too early PREDICTIONS
EM Lions will once again ground and pound another title.
Arroyo rebuilding but coaching staff will be good enough for 2nd place
Rosemead takes a big step up this year makes the playoffs.
SEM has two very capable horses but coaching staff is below average
Mountain View will be good enough to stay out of the cellar
Gabrielino will bring up the rear.
