(Pasadena) – Pasadena went on a 15-1 run to open the game and were never really threatened in a 62-50 win over Muir Friday night to win the Rose City Rivalry on the Mustangs home floor.

The Bulldogs completely dominated in the first quarter to lead 21-6 after the first quarter of play. Devon Lewis and Davian Brown led the early charge with seven and six points respectively.

Lewis hit two more threes in the second quarter and Brown also knocked one down as Pasadena extended the lead to 18. The Mustangs were able to get some offense going with 14 points in the quarter but still found themselves down 38-20 at the break.

Assad Muhammad warmed up for Muir in the third quarter scoring ten points including a pair of threes. But the Stangs still weren’t able to cut into the Bulldogs lead trailing by 20 at 53-33 when the third quarter buzzer sounded.

Muir tried to get back in with an 8-0 run to open the third to cut the margin to 53-41. Later in the quarter the Mustangs cut it to nine but that was as close as they would get. Lewis hit a big three for Pasadena and Brown hit a couple of free throws to keep Muir at bay.

Muhammad threw in nine more points in the fourth quarter and finished with 22 to lead the Muir attack. Ethan Fleming, Joseph Dollaway and Khamron Cantrell all scored seven.

For Pasadena Lewis led the way with 20 points including four threes and Brown scored 15. Zavior Smith was also in double figures with 11 and Dutch Richard added seven.

With the victory Pasadena improved to 12-6 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the Pacific League. Muir fell to 8-11 and 3-3.
