Glendora’s Plutko Fires No hitter

Adam Plutko's no no lifts Glendora to semis

By Corey Kwok
(Glendora) – Adam Plutko fired a no hitter and Glendora got all the offense it needed in the first inning as the Tartans went on to beat Valencia 2-1 Friday to advance to the Division 2 semi finals.

Plutko didn’t allow a hit but did give up five walks and a run. He battled out of a jam in the fourth and benefitted from a great catch by shortstop Clinton Harwick in the seventh. Harwick speared a line shot to close out the game.

In the first inning John Alexander ripped a two run double to get Glendora the early lead. It turned out to be all the offense necessary.
Harwick stung one for a hit over second base in the first before Jacob Smigelski singled to left to set up Alexander’s two RBI double.
Valencia starting pitcher Carl Robinson then found new life, mowing down 11 consecutive batters and 14 of 15 overall in a stretch from the first through the sixth innings.

Glendora also got hits from Harwick and Smigelski in the sixth but this time Robinson halted the threat by inducing back to back pop ups.
The Tigers scored their only run in the fourth on a passed ball as pinch runner David Voorhees slid home. He came in for Andrew Alvarado, who walked. Voorhees stole second and advanced to third on a ground ball.
Glendora will host Mira Costa Tuesday at 3:15 pm.
