  1. NBA Draft – Top five picks: 1. Detroit – Cade Cunningham, G, Oklahoma State. 2. Houston – Jalen Green, G. NBA G League Ignite. 3. Cleveland – Evan Mobley, C, USC. 4. Toronto -Scottie Barnes, F, Florida State. 5. Orlando -Jalen Suggs, G. Gonzaga.  
  2. The Lakers have agreed to a deal to acquire guard Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrel, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a 2021 draft pick. 
  3. The Dodgers acquired left-hander Danny Duffy from the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later. 
  4. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson tested positive for COVID-19. 
  5. Sunisa Lee won the gold medal for the U.S. in gymnastics all-around at the Tokyo Olympics. 
  6. Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona is stepping down for the remainder of the season due to health issues. 
  7. Caleb Dressel won the 100 freestyle in an Olympic-record 47.02 seconds edging Australia’s Kyle Chalmers by six-hundredth’s of a second. 
  8. Quarterback Trey Lance, the number 3 overall pick of the San Francisco 49ers, signed a four-year, $34.1 million fully guaranteed deal Wednesday. 
  9. The U.S. Men’s Basketball team blew out Iran 120-66 Wednesday after losing the Olympic opener to France.  
  10.  The Dodgers pulled off a blockbuster deal with the Washington Nationals which landed them right-hander Max Scherzer and shortstop Trea Turner for several prospects.
