Glendora Still Perfect, 28-6

(Glendora) – Glendora led 21-0 at halftime and went on to beat West Covina 28-6 Thursday night at Citrus College to remain perfect on the season.

The Tartans shut out the Bulldogs until the fourth quarter until West Covina finally pushed one across. Glendora took advantage of five West Covina turnovers which included three interceptions.

Christian Sampson intercepted West Covina’s Steven De Luna on the opening possession and returned it 48 yards for the score. The pick six put Glendora up 7-0.

The Tartans cashed in again on their next series. They took over on the West Covina 45 and needed just six plays to get in the end zone. Braydon Brus ran 12 yards for the score to put Glendora up 14-0 with 32 seconds left in the first quarter.

West Covina used up plenty of clock in the second quarter but after marching down to the Glendora 32 yard line another pick stopped the Bulldogs again as Trey Bird came up with an interception.

Glendora was forced to punt on the series but West Covina muffed it and the Tartans recovered on the West Co 14 yard line. Two plays later Brus crashed in from a yard out for his second of the night and a 21-0 lead with 1:23 left in the second quarter. Glendora took that lead into the half.

West Covina turned the ball over again in the third quarter when Brus intercepted a a pass. Glendora scored late in the third when Zach Ford scored on a 7-yard run with just 40 seconds remaining.

West Covina broke through in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs marched 80 yards on seven plays with tight end Devin Muniz hauling in a 29-yard pass from De Luna to finish the drive and avoid the shutout with 8:30 left.

For Glendora Brus had 7 carries for 52 yards and two touchdowns and Ford rushed 13 times for 105 yards and a score. Glendora had 189 yards on the ground.

Zach Requena had 55 yards rushing on 16 carries for West Covina and De Luna threw for 49 yards including the 29 yard touchdown but was hurt by the three picks.

Glendora remained undefeated improving to 5-0 with the win while West Covina fell to 2-3.
