  3. UConn hired former UCLA head coach Jim Mora to be its new head football coach. 
  4. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is on track to play this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. 
  5. The Carolina Panthers signed quarterback Cam Newton to a one-year contract. Newton led the Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2015. 
  6. Liam Hendrix of the Chicago White Sox and Josh Hader of the Milwaukee Brewers were named the AL and NL Relievers of the Year respectively. 
  7. The Lakers are 7-5 after a 120-117 overtime win over the Miami Heat Wednesday night. 
  8. California head football coach Justin Wilcox said his team followed all of the protocols before a COVID-19 outbreak led to dozens of positive tests and the first postponement of a major college football game this season.
