@ Covid Concerns: I appreciate some of your concerns. I believe there should be full transparency when it comes to public health data about Covid-19 and all other hazards to our collective well-being. I also agree that clinical trial information gathered by pharmaceutical companies should be made public as well.
Our tax dollars support the work of government agencies such as the FDA, the CDC, and the National Institutes of Health, and we the taxpayers are largely subsidizing the Covid-19 vaccines that have been developed by the pharmaceutical industry. Yes, we need to have all of the information about the effectiveness of the vaccines and any other possible impacts they could have on us.
I’ll take a moment to address the quality of indoor air, from my perspective as a substitute teacher in the Alhambra School District. We’re encouraged to keep classroom doors open as much as possible to enhance air circulation, and we have air purification machines running in most classrooms and offices. Many, if not all, of the air-conditioning systems on district campuses have been updated.
It’s impossible to maintain social distancing at all times when you have hundreds or thousands of students on a school campus, so that’s why it’s essential that we continue wearing face masks until a lot more people get vaccinated.
I just got my Covid-19 booster shot this afternoon, and I hope that everyone else who is able to receive a vaccination will get one. That’s how we’re going to finally beat down the pandemic and get Covid-19 under control.
Based on the fact that this disease has become so widespread, I tend to agree with those who say we may never be able to totally eradicate it. From now on, we might have to receive a periodic Covid-19 vaccination, much like we get a flu shot every year.
I plan to remain among the living for as long as possible, and I wish to remain healthy and productive. I’ll do whatever is necessary to accomplish those goals.
Things are getting better; we’ve gotten through almost half the school year—as well as an entire high school football season—with few significant Covid-19 outbreaks. Businesses around here are now functioning in a fairly normal manner, too. We just have to hang in there and work together for at least a few more months.

If you’re indoors with a group of masked people for more than 10 minutes, you’re all breathing the same air. To get the job done in reality requires an N95 surgical mask, so unless you’re wearing one of those, spare me your tales of personal responsibility. Pfizer’s third quarter profits this year exceeded those of last year’s third quarter by 150%, and the company has asked the FDA to give it 55 years to release the test data used to get its shots authorized. Why would anyone suspect foul play there?

Well said, Doug. I continue to wear a mask because my job as a substitute teacher requires it, and because I also realize that I’d be doing all of the students I work with an extreme disservice if I didn’t.
I say this as a person who has already been vaccinated against Covid-19 twice and has also received a flu shot.
The Covid-19 infection rates are still too high and there are way too many unvaccinated people around for us to let our guard down. The sooner we get the vast majority of people vaccinated, the sooner the pandemic will end.
A rate of about 57% fully vaccinated people nationwide and 60% or so in California (which is one of the better states) still doesn’t cut it. We’ll probably have to wait until at least next spring or summer before we can go entirely without face masks indoors. That’s my best guess, based on the current information.
I know that many out there don’t want to hear it, but that’s the way it goes. Our behavior often affects other people, so we don’t always get to do whatever we want.

Miami recently cut teachers’ salaries by $100 million, saying their money was tight due to Covid, and now they’re dishing a reported $80 million to Cristobal. I’ve got no problem with that, because the academics in most colleges is garbage anyway.

Yes you are tough enough to not worry about covid, can’t hurt you macho man. But what about those around you? I’m sure you have relatives that would not be as as lucky.
Some people, like me, have more than one of the underlying factors that make covid a much more serious problem.I’ve had two distant relatives die of covid. They probably caught it from unmasked, unvaccinated tough guys who feel it’s not their problem to do all they can to protect others.
Yeah,I’m one of those “sheeple” You can thank me for trying to keep you safe.

Tim thank you for the job you do!!! Great work. My son been out of high school 5 years but I still come back on this site because your information is great. Love reading people post. High School sports info site like this is great for high school sports fans.
My son played for Spathais his first time coaching at Bassett and it’s true he gets kids to believe in themselves. Turned boys into fine young men. Football players don’t come to Bassett to play football. Athletes that have never played tackle football go to Bassett and learn the game how to tackle and so on.
Spat and his staff lots of respect for them. Coaches underpaid and not appreciated for all there time. You can say Bassett ain’t a big time football program might not win CIF. But the thing I can say they give 100% on field.

I have been around Spat for a while. He is a very smart guy, but what I see is he really cares about what happens to the kids he coaches. I think this is a big reason why these kids believe in him and play hard on Friday nights.

Was there a rumor that Spathais was leaving Bassett and that’s why you posted #10???
From T. Peterson: Yes. In fact when he first took the job last year he told me he may only be filling in for one year. But I talked to him the other night and he is coming back. He likes the support of the admin and he likes the players that he has returning.

You can prove your point with manipulating statistics if you wish. You live in America. You are free to think and take in all the voodoo if you choose or all the science that you want. So my friend go maskless, unvaccinated and coughing to your hearts content and don’t worry about the people the are masked. They aren’t hurting you are they? As far as censoring you aren’t looking hard enough. There are witch docters and Q worshippers all over social media. JFK is coming back from the dead right?

it still amazes me that people like COVID Concerns think COVID shut downs is an American thing and not a world pandemic that literally did the same thing to every country in the world. But yet they want to think it was created just to oppose whatever small minded idea they have.

I read that anybody that posts stuff like this is compensating for a lack of mental acuity, masculine virility, and inability to recognize reality. Who ever said that Covid would bring about the end of the world? And so what if people use mail-in ballots (as Trump and his family did), for there is NO evidence that there was widespread voter fraud. I’m sorry that you hate humanity and do not care that people are dying. I’m sure that people that have had family or friends die of Covid will be comforted by your statistics. What percentage of the US population died as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks? Yet we still are implored to Never Forget and honor the troops that fought in the insanely expensive War on Terror. Do us all a favor and stop with this nonsense. People are literally dying because the misinformation that you and people like you spew. So hustle yourself to a library and read a book or find something more constructive to do with your time. Enough of your lies and efforts to divide this country.

I read where, before anyone ever heard of Covid, the average American (of any age or health status) had a .72% chance of dying on any given day. With this monstrous pandemic gripping our populace, that daily chance of dying has soared to .82%. That’s why we’re locking everyone down, censoring them on social media, and putting guys like Keenan Allen on non-available lists. After two years of watching the world NOT coming to an end, one wonders: when will this hustle end? My guess is right after the massive use of mail-in ballots during the 2022 mid-terms.
