  1. Reliever Craig Kimbrel blew a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning and the Dodgers went on to lose to the Padres 4-2 Sunday. The Dodgers won three out of four in the series. 
  2. Kimbrel has an ERA of 4.78 on the season and 7.11 over the last seven games. 
  3. USC hired former Grand Canyon Coach Andy Stankiewicz as its new head baseball coach. 
  4. The Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets are reportedly involved in active trade discussions around a Russell Westbrook-Kyrie Irving swap. 
  5. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jaylon Ferguson died from combined effects of fentanyl and cocaine according to medical examiners. 
  6. The Angels struck out 20 times in a 4-2 loss to the Houston Astros Sunday. Mike Trout struck out nine times and was 0-11 in the three-game series. 
  7. The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired center Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz for five players including Patrick Beverly and Malik Beasley. 
  8. Monrovia, St. Paul and Covina are playing in the SoCo Invitational Tournament this Saturday at Newport Harbor High School. 
  9. The Birmingham Stallions beat the Philadelphia Stars 33-30 to win the USFL Championship Sunday.
