No, you’re not going to convince me that wearing a Bass Pro Shop hat to a 7on7 is ok.

    Point #1
If you’re the coach, get your kids some cool gear so they don’t have to wear other stuff. If this kid had a PHS hat, he’s probably rock that instead.

    Point #2
It still matters what kids wear. Thank you FBFan for understanding the big picture. It’s not about the hat but it is. If you youngsters calling me “sad or pathetic” don’t understand that it’s because you need to mature a little. Clearly you have not been in a position of leadership and don’t yet understand how much dress code maters.

Thanks for Proving my point 2Greedy. Adults are constantly using the excuse that “kids are different now.” They’re not. It’s the adults that are different. Kids will do what adults let them get away with.

Now I assume some coaches let kids do this because they know that if they hold young men accountable the parents won’t like that little Johnny is mad for not being able to wear his backward visor during 7 on 7 and will transfer their baby to a school with a “cool coach” so they just let them do what they want.

    @ Anonymous,

That Bass Pro Shop hat is peanuts compared to some of the stuff I’ve seen. But I guess when a high school millionaire wears pajamas around, all is fair game. It’s embarrassing what some of these coaches allow. They’ve allowed the kid/parent to set the rules and standards and not themselves. Reason they allow it is because it’s trendy and “because the kids like it.” It starts with something small like what you wear and turns into something bad like how you conduct yourself.

So coaches don’t have a say in what kids wear to passing tournaments now a days? Call me old school but my athletes would NEVER wear a Bass Pro Shop hat to any athletic event.
