(Rosemead) – Arroyo scored on the first play of the game and rolled the rest of the way in a 41-0 rout of Rosemead Friday night in Mission Valley League action at Rod Marinelli Stadium.
Joe Reyes hit Ruben Munoz on a quick out and Munoz was off to the races for a 68-yard touchdown 16 seconds into the game.
After Albert Lopez booted a 29-yard field goal later in the quarter Reyes and Munoz hooked up again in the second quarter, this time for an 88 yard catch and run and it was 17-0 Knights.
With just over two minutes left in the first half Sebastain Serrano caught a swing pass, used a block and rumbled 30 yards for a score.
Rosemead punted four times, tuned the ball over once and missed two field goals in the first half as Arroyo took a 24-0 lead into the break.
The Knights turned out the lights quickly in the third quarter. A short 24-yard drive resulted on a one-yard touchdown run with 8:11 left in the third quarter. Five minutes later Kurt Dominguez finished a 50-yard, five-play drive with an 8-yard run to give Arroyo a 38-0 lead.
Lopez added a 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final score of the night.
Reyes completed four passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Munoz caught two passes for 156 yards and the two scores and Serrano hauled in two for 43 and a touchdown.
Reyes also ran for 67 yards on eight carries.
Rosemead struggled to find an offensive rhythm all night. Miles Lugo was the lone bright spot with seven catches for 81 yards. Frank Weisbrod completed 14 passes for 145 yards and an interception.
Arroyo is now in prime position to wrap up the Mission Valley League with a win over Gabrielino next week. The Knights improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the MVL. Rosemead dropped to 3-6 and 2-2.
Doesn’t stop me from enjoy absolutely right
Watch what you say or his mother in law will show up to your front door.
You get weaker and weaker every week. I may just stop responding to these soft posts. I tell you you what, do some push ups have some protein go watch some Eastwood or Wayne flicks comeback after your testosterone levels go back up the you can submit a post.
I’m not related nor have ever met previous coach; how can program go from beating Gabrielino 77-6 to losing to them???Furthermore , Gabrielino had better CalPreps power rating last year .
That says something about somebody#ironic
@Funny
What’s funnier is not a single person mentioned the old Rosemead coach in this thread, but you. My guess is you’re somehow related to the guy. Good luck at DB.
The only people posting last year wanted to coach gone, he is doing awesome at diamond bar…but hey at least no one at Rosemead is complaining about their coach anymore.
It’s also because the MVL is absolutely horrible and Arroyo is better than them. It’s easy to look good when you play crappy teams. Big fish in a small pond.
Arroyos team seems to be getting more and more comfortable each week. Still alot of dropped passes but overall they keep getting better. There QB also looks better every week. God job Knights
Also everyone sucks but you suck less. Come on Get Back Coach! Be real bozo. Don’t be a clown.
Good week good prep great execution
Pretty sure this is the first time in a long time Gab beats Rosemead. I bet back in the day they only beat them a few times.
Last years score Rosemead 77 Gabrielino 6
Shows the importance of coaching staff #moretruth
Grabielino used to kick Rosemeads a$@ all the time back in the day. No real surprise there.
I believe this is the fifth running clock loss Panther faithful have had to endure this season. Add a loss to Gabrielino!!!
The sad part is that Arroyo is young and not at level of some previous years, but Rosemead unable to step up or even show up
