  1. Connecticut beat San Diego St. 76-59 Monday night to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. 
  2. For UConn it was its fifth National Championship – all since 1999. 
  3. Purdue center Zach Edey was named the winner of the Wooden Award. 
  4. Monrovia’s Jacob Hernandez ran the 100 meters in 10.85 this season and will attempt to break that time this weekend at the Arcadia Invitational. 
  5. CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz called his last Final Four game Monday night in the Championship game. He will continue to announce golf and NFL games. 
  6. The Las Vegas Raiders signed quarterback Brian Hoyer to a two-year deal. 
  7. Covina’s Anthony Cordova went 5 for 5 Tuesday in a 19-7 win over Santa Ana. 
  8. Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles for three years, $42 million. 
  9. The New York Knicks clinched a playoff berth with a 118-109 win over the Washington Wizards Sunday. It’s just the second time in the last 10 years that the Knicks have made the playoffs.
  10. On this day in 1984 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar broke Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time career scoring record of 31,419 points.
