Don Lugo Wins Chino Hills Tourney

(Chino Hills) – Don Lugo beat Glendora in the Finals to win the Chino Hills 7 on 7 passing tournament Saturday.

Behind an offense led by Junior quarterback Kaleb Pacheco and receiver Gavin Hrynezuk Don Lugo had a big day and ran all the way to the Tournament title. Hrynezuk had 18 total touchdowns on the day and looks to be one of the best WR/DB in the area.

“We have some guys. I’m very excited for this team,” said first year Don Lugo head coach Josh Knight. “We’re not there yet but we are getting there.”

Don Lugo will also participate in the Colony Tournament next Saturday June 17, the SGV Shootout at Arroyo on June 24 and the Baldwin Park Tournament in July.

Good call, it’s a form of structural tanking ; leave to a former AD to know the ropes . I’m not sure about the coaching part but the right guys at the right time of year in the right Division.

1 of the ways to work the new playoff system is to have sit out period transfers. With Don Lugo’s QB and RB transfers, they should be good. But since they’re not playing until after the mid point of the season because of the sit out period, their Calpreps rankings could be lower. Then they qualify for playoffs in league play when they finally get to full strength and could make a run in a lower division. One of the many glitches in the new system.
