  1. Buddy Teevens, 66, the winningest coach in Dartmouth history, passed away due to complications from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident in March. 
  2. Rams receiver Puka Nacua has 25 receptions for 266 yards in the first two games. 
  3. Dale Mooney, 53, died at the New England Patriots-Miami Dolphins game Monday night at Gillette Stadium after being punched in the head during an altercation with a fan. 
  4. Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson is expected to be out for the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair a broken fibula. 
  5. Chicago Bears DC Alan Williams has stepped down due to health and personal reasons. 
  6. The Minnesota Vikings acquired running back Cam Akers from the Rams for a 2026 sixth round pick. The Vikings also will receive a 2026 seventh round pick from the Rams. 
  7. The Las Vegas Raiders placed DE Chandler Jones on the non-football illness list as he works through a personal matter.       
  8. Milwaukee Brewers right-hander J.C. Mejia was suspended 162 games by MLB after testing positive for a performance enhancing drug. 
  9. Running back Kareem Hunt returned to the Cleveland Browns on a one-year, $4 million deal as the Browns try to patch up their backfield after the season ending injury to Nick Chubb. 
  10. On this day in 1987 the NFL players began a strike that lasted 24 days.
