(Montebello) – David Ramos has stepped down as the head football coach at Schurr after 10 seasons he confirmed Monday.
Schurr had an overall record of 69-34 during Ramos’ ten-year run. The Spartans went 3-8 in the playoffs and won four Almont League titles.
In Ramos’ third year in 2017 Schurr went 10-2 overall and won the Almont League. The Spartans beat Valley in the first round of the CIF Division 12 playoffs but fell in the second round to Santa Maria.
Schurr won the Almont in each of the last two seasons going 9-2 each year. This past season the Spartans were bumped up to Division 6 after a regular season run of 9-1, (5-0 in league) but they fell in the first round to Muir 22-19.
“There’s nothing negative. It’s just the right time for me,” Ramos said.
Schurr will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
Coach Montoya should be the hire.
Schurr has done everything in their power to attract players and attempt to overhype their program since Ramos took over. I don’t think they won a playoff game since 2017, those almont championships are not the most difficult to obtain, the almont could be one of the weakest leagues in the CIF. Be careful what you wish for handing over the reigns to an unproven assistant with no experience, think Clay Helton and you get a glimpse of what can happen.
Beltran was the DC at BG last year
D14…..
@SOMEONE WHO KNOWS i don’t have a program but if i did it would beat schurr 100-0 every week and twice on fridays. like i said, bum program. i stand on business with what i say can you do the same? be a man.
Haha a bum program?
How about you stop hiding behind your fake online name so we can see what your program looks like?

Not successful! In 2 year’s he was 1-1 vs Ramos with 1 League Championship, CIF CHAMPIONSHIP, Regional Championship and State Runner Up 5-2 playoff record if he had Schurr talent sky is the limit but go ahead and hire the 7 on 7 guy and lose in the 1st round like you do every year
Hey FAT & Juicy are you sure you are on the correct site?

December 9, 2024 – 2:10 pm | Permali interesting if it is an ex BG man , yet he wasn’t too successful there
Mountain View is also has head football opening, although quite the opposite of a successful program
@SOMEONE WHO KNOWS one win would be a massive improvement at a bum program like Schurr.
Can the school board please pull the plug on the Monrovia head coach…………
Sign of the times. Ramos who has been coaching in the Montebello District for 30 years, resigns silently without any major announcement from himself.
Meanwhile, the LB Poly coach who was there a whole 7 years writes a manifesto even quoting Robert Frost when he stepped down.
I’d like to see your coaching resume, you sound like a person who spends their time in the stands rather than on the field. Since the spots open perhaps you can apply and lead them to a 1 win season.
Barbee stepped down at LB Poly tonight, continuing this trend.
So much for chasing 7 on talent huh tell me how much did Schurr pass the ball? And all the talk about they get so many transfers in the past 2 seasons they only got 3 transfers people really need to do some research instead of talking out there DELETED looking like clowns
Nope he was fired from Amat so he is taking the OC job at South El Monte
Jude’s time has passed his happy at Buena Park. Everyone seems to like the young coach on-staff and seems like he is head coach in waiting. Schurr is top job not sure why they would open it for a true search. Am sure a lot of people happy with Ramos resigning
they are going to have the assistant coach take over, I would like to see the administration do an actual search for an experienced coach but they are likely to go with the young guy who chases 7 on 7 talent
Could it be a former Bell Gardens coach that takes over? Hearing rumors brewing
nine seasons too late. hopefully the next coach is competent. i could do better and that’s saying a lot.
Interesting to see who they hire!!! Jude?
Some very interesting moves with coaches from successful programs stepping down , This brings to the fore exactly how much energy and commitment is needed to do a good job .
