- Number one seeds in the Men’s NCAA Tournament: South – Auburn, East- Duke, Midwest – Houston, West – Florida. UCLA, the number 7 seed, will face Utah State in the Midwest on Thursday. In the Women’s Tournament both UCLA and USC are number one seeds.
- The Cincinnati Bengals signed wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase to a five-year, $161 million extension. They also reached an agreement with receiver Tee Higgins for four years, $115 million.
- The Seattle Seahawks signed former Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp to a three-year, $45 million deal.
- Former Seattle SuperSonics guard Donald “Slick” Watts passed away at the age of 73.
- Arcadia, now 9-0 on the season, will face Damien at Angel Stadium Monday night.
- The CIF re-leaguing for football has Northview, Charter Oak, Bonita, Glendora, Ayala and Colony in the Sierra League. This will begin in the 2026 season.
- The Baltimore Ravens signed former Dallas quarterback Cooper Rush to a two-year, $12 million contract.
- The Cleveland Cavaliers’ 16-game winning streak came to an end Sunday with a 108-103 loss to the Orlando Magic.
- The Dodgers will open the season Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo, Japan. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 a.m. PT.
- UNLV fired head basketball coach Kevn Kruger Saturday after four seasons. UNLV was 76-55 overall under Kruger but never qualified for the NCAA Tournament during his four-year stint.
Slick Watts was one of my favorites in high school. Wore a head band at basketball practice to be like him. Coach didn’t allow wearing it in games. Thanks for the memories Slick!
