- Michigan fired head football coach Sherrone Moore for cause Wednesday after finding credible evidence that Moore engaged in inappropriate conduce with a staff member.
- Moore was later taken into custody and is incarcerated at the Washtenaw County jail as a suspect in an alleged assault.
- The Baltimore Orioles signed free agent first baseman Pete Alonso to a five-year $155 million deal. Alonso, who is the all-time leader for the New York Mets in homeruns, hit 38 homeruns and had 126 RBI last season.
- Former San Diego Padres closer Robert Suarez signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Atlanta Braves.
