The Boys are back in town at Arroyo which means the Knights are the prohibitive Mission Valley League favorites. With Jim Singiser and his staff back in control Arroyo should rise to the top. Arroyo finished third last year and made the playoffs but with a first-round playoff exit and an overall record of below .500 it wasn’t exactly a banner year at B.L. Bergstrom. The Knights will have a few hurdles to clear to reach the MVL finish line first.

(El Segundo) – The Chargers were out in El Segundo Saturday for their third day of training camp. Quarterbacks Justin Herbert, Taylor Heinicke, Trey Lance and DJ Ulagalelei all saw action. Herbert and Heinicke worked with the ones and twos. The practice started at 5:00 pm and went a little over 90 minutes. On offense rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden looked good hauling a few receptions from Herbert. Rookie Omarion Hampton also was effective carrying the rock and catching balls out of the backfield. Defensively Deane Leonard and Daiyan Henley both had picks. The Chargers are off Sunday and will be back at it Monday. Next Saturday July 26 is back together weekend for the Chargers. The Dodgers backed into the All Star Break with a bit of momentum – a modest two game win streak following a seven game losing streak. Still, they entered the break with the best record in the National League, and only a game behind the Detroit Tigers for best record in the majors. They’ve scored the most runs in the majors and have done all this with a patchwork pitching staff. 80% of the rotation has spent significant time on the IL. Tyler Glasnow is now back, and Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki are nearing returns. We expect to see a better Dodgers team in the second half. Read more »

The Chargers’ wide receiver room is down one. Mike Williams, who signed with the Chargers in the off season on a one-year deal announced Wednesday that he is retiring from the NFL after eight years.
