Chris Reed will be key for TC

(Temple City) – Temple City finished up its first phase of spring/summer practices Thursday before breaking for the next three weeks on dead period.

Second Year Coach Mike McFarland

The Rams went 4-7 last season under first year Coach Mike McFarland but did take third place in the Rio Hondo by virtue of a coin flip and advanced to the CIF Playoffs. Temple City gave Rosemead all it could handle in the first round before falling to the Panthers 49-36.

Thumbs up for Rams

Temple City returns several skill position players including quarterback Mikal Quintanilla, and running backs Chris Reed and Jaime Dea. Bryan Wong and Michael Bassette are back to anchor the front lines.

Rams Digging in

The Rams will return to the practice field August 8 and then work the rest of the summer to get ready for the Mid Valley Classic at Arroyo on Friday night September 9. They will get Alhambra the following week before traveling to Arcadia, back home against South El Monte and then completing the non league schedule at Rosemead. The Rio Hondo League opener is against South Pasadena on October 14.

Temple City has been in a few passing competitions this summer but not ot the extent of some area schools.

“We’ve thrown a little but but I don’t like it to take away from what we need to do,” McFarland said. “If you’re a throwing team then of course you’ll be in passing leagues. For us I don’t like us to throw more than once a week. We’ll be running it too.”
