Southeast Division Top 20 (10/8/2013)

NorRock's Rashaad Penny

NorRock’s Rashaad Penny

We’ve finally reached that part in the season where the dust is settling and the pool of contenders begins to get smaller and smaller. Maybe ten deep a month ago, eight deep a week ago, looks like a precarious six right now. It is league time, and you know what you do at league time? You take care of your league! If not, we’re looking for smart playoff analysts at Mid Valley Sports.

.) Norwalk (5-0): Previous Week: 1: “The Ref puts his hands up, he’s playing NorRock’s song…the butterflies fly away. Ceniceros moving his head like yah, moving his hips like yah…It’s a party in NorRock, CA.”

.) Downey (2-3): Prev. Wk: 2: Should get off to a fast start in the SGVL with rout of Lynwood this week.

.) La Serna (3-2): Prev. Wk: 4: Margarito Beltran gets to take it out on old friend, Cal HC Jim Arnold this week.

.) Diamond Ranch (5-1): Pre. Week: 6: How real is D-Ranch? We’ll see next week.

.) Burbank (5-0): Prev. Wk: 7: The Bank gets to find out how hacked CV is about blowing a 17 point lead and game to Burroughs.

.) Santa Fe (3-2): Prev. Wk: 5: Looking at Pioneer on Friday like the lions eyed a Christians in the arena.

.) Los Altos (4-1): Prev. Wk: 3: Conquerors have no time to feel sorry for themselves, toughest game of the year is this week.

.) Diamond Bar (5-1): Prev. Wk: 9: A win against Los Altos tells the Southeast that the Brahmas are a final four contender.

.) La Mirada (2-4): Prev. Wk: 8: Slowly they turned…step by step…inch by inch…

.) Muir (4-1): Prev. Wk: 10: Fools gold to bet against Muir, but it’s also fools gold to say “let it ride.”…Can’t afford Glendale/Hoover-esque screw ups against Burroughs.

.) Bonita (4-2): Prev. Wk: 12: The last three weeks of the season will tell us everything we need to know about the Bearcats.

.) Paramount (3-2): Prev. Wk: 13: These guys should beat Dominguez, for their own mental well being they need to beat Dominguez.

.) Crescenta Valley (4-1): Prev. Wk: 11: If Burroughs beats Muir, if they can beat Burbank…They lost hand when they fell apart last week. Not a long road, but a tough one back to relevance.

.) Bellflower (3-3): Prev. Wk: 16: “Tina Delgado is alive! Alive!”…and so are the Buccaneers.

.) Dominguez (3-2): Prev. Wk: 15: If they are going to make a move the time is now, if not they are one and done by Week Eleven.

.) West Covina (2-4): Prev. Wk: 14: This reminds of the story about the old coach who went into the locker room at half time with his team down 35-0 and wasn’t worried about scoring, winning, or losing. He only said; “Who wants to hit someone?”

.) Burroughs (3-2): Prev. Wk: 20: From oblivion to the 20 spot, from the 20 spot to 17, and glory and riches await if they can beat the Mustangs.

.) Artesia (4-2):  Prev. Wk: 19: You better not sleep on these guys, because they’ll push the button, flip the switch, and leave you covered in smoke, soot, and ashes. We’re here to testify.

.) El Rancho (2-3): Prev. Wk: 17: Love The Ranch, but it’s put up or shut up time in 2013.

.) Mayfair (2-4): Prev. Wk: 18: It’s a young team…So…Help-me-help-you!…Help me help, you! Help…me…help, YOU!
