Chuck Leonardis joins Arroyo Coaching Staff

By Tim Peterson

(El Monte) – Arroyo’s Jim Singiser is entering his 13th year as the head coach of the Knights. And while his face will be familiar as he patrols the sidelines on Friday nights there will be several other new faces on the Knights coaching staff.

Long time OC Chris MacMillan is back but there have been several changes from the 2014 staff and with the blessing of the administration, Singiser has added three new coaches. Former Alhambra HC/Arcadia assistant Chuck Leonardis is now on staff as well as former Buena Park assistant Josh Knight (appropriate name.) Also Shahpore Khalifeh has been brought aboard as well.

Here is how the Knights staff looks for 2015 and where they will be coaching:

Jim Singiser – HC/DC/LB

Chuck Leonardis – OL

Josh Knight – QB

Shahpore Khalifeh – DB

Gabriel Cotero – WR

Chris MacMillan – WR/OC

Nick Bueno – WR

Oscar Lopez – RB

James Rivera – DL

this is not me being mad I am giving props to guys like HC of Arroyo and BP coach White, they are not afraid to reach out and hire good experienced coaches, it sucks when a coach at any league brings his buddies and the program goes down as they do not know football as much, now I see kids that recently played college helping as as coaches, the kids respond to them because they know football both sides of the field, many times you hear a kid that knows football say that his OC tried to come up with a play, and a couple of kids mocked him as that play wont work, many times you hear that the job was given to a guy because his son is a superstar, I am merely stating that rumor in the valley MR Singiser is respected , knows football, and it is fact he is getting experienced coaches , If all did this, they would make their program better.

@assistant who sound like a coach who was fired and is mad about it. Sometimes coaches hire friends becuase they know the system is a better fit.

A great sign of a good coach , here is an example that a confident & self assured coach is not afraid to bring in experienced and this goes out to the arrogant coaches who do not hire good assistants because they are afraid they will know more than them, or they will take their jobs, in Arroyo’s league there is a few schools that can use a few assistants and not their buddies to coach. Calling all coaches let your fake egotistical ways and allow the kids to flourish and be exposed better by bringing coaches that know football.

Leonardis is good coach but he set Alhambra back a couple of years because of giving athletes advice on what supplements they should take.

Hopefully Chuck Leonardis doesn’t give arroyo athletes advice on supplements they should take like he did at Alhambra.

This photo was taken at the Charter Oak tourney, so this news is ancient.
From T. Peterson: No actually it’s never been officially reported. We were told it keep it under wraps until the coaches were approved by the administration, so that’s what we did. The news is current. Thanks though.

Coach Chuck and Coach K are close friends and I’ve had the privilege of coaching along side them….
They’re gonna be super valuable to coach singiser and the arroyo team. Good luck to them and I’m super glad their in a good place.
