3.) Former Temple City Rams center Nick Fry turns 25.

6.) On this day in Dodgers history: In 1996 the trio of Juan Castro, Delino DeShields and Eric Karros enter the Dodger record books as they turn the first triple play in Los Angeles Dodger history and 20th in franchise annals against the Atlanta Braves.

7.) Michael Sam, who signed with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes on May 22, has been put on the team’s suspended list. Sam, who had been struggling in camp, left the team for personal reasons last week.

8.) On this date in 1938 Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Vander Meer throws second consecutive no-hitter. (Name the teams without cheating?)
