2. The Detroit Lions release running back Joique Bell.

4. USC erases a 15 point deficit to beat Colorado 79-72. With the victory, the Trojans improve to 15-0 at Galen Center.

5. Gabrielino beats South Pasadena 62-50 to advance to the second round of the Division 3A playoffs.

6. On this day in 1944 the Cincinnati Reds sign the youngest player ever – 15 year old Joe Nuxall.

7. Happy Birthday to former Dodger great Manny Mota who turns 78 today.

9. Nike cuts ties with boxer Manny Pacquiao after derogatory comments regarding same-sex couples.
