1. The LA KISS (7-8) by virtue of the Cleveland Gladiators loss to the Arizona Rattlers last Sunday, secured a first round home playoff game. However since their home field, the Honda Center, had a previous engagement, the game will be played at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on Sunday August 7 at 3:00 p.m. against Cleveland.

2. The Chicago Cubs acquire reliever Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees for four players including elite prospect, shortstop Gleyber Torres.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue agrees to a five-year, $35 million extension.

4. The Miami Heat signed guard Dion Waiters to a one-year, $2.9 million deal.

5. Portland Trailblazers guard C.J. McCollum agreed to a four-year, $106 million contract extension.

6. Forward Amar’e Stoudemire signed a contract with the New York Knicks and then announced his retirement. Stoudemire played for Phoenix, New York, Dallas and Miami during a 14 year NBA career.

7. The Toronto Blue Jays acquire Melvin Upton Jr. and cash from the San Diego Padres. Upton is currently hitting .256 with 16 home runs and 45 RBI.

8. The Seattle Sounders fired head coach Sigi Schmid Tuesday. Schmid is the only coach Seattle has ever had in its eight-year history. The Sounders are currently 6-12-2 and in ninth place in the Western Conference, just one point ahead of last place Houston.

9. On this day in 1993 New York Mets pitcher Anthony Young ends his 27 game losing streak.

10. On this date in 1996, the Centennial Olympic Park bombing took place during the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. Two people died, (one of a heart attack) and 111 were injured due to the explosion.
