@NWO, did they fold or have they changed affiliation? Arcadia still has a youth program, they are now known as the Saints instead of the Indians. I don’t believe they are affiliated with San Gabriel Valley Junior All American any longer. It would be sad if all those programs actually folded, especially Duarte, they always have good athletes and passionate parents.

The fact that football is wildly popular to watch has nothing to do with the fact that boys are being directed away from the game. Cage fighting and extreme sports are popular on TV but you do not see boys and girls flocking in to participate. The new thinking is ” hey if parents want to let their sons slam heads all day long I’ll watch but do not expect me to allow my son to sacrifice his young body.”

Lincoln Heights & Duarte have folded their youth football programs. This will probably affect their high school programs in a few years. A sad trend following in the footsteps of Arcadia, TC, Alhambra, Claremont.

I believe Beltran, I don’t know him but his run at La Serna has to give him some credit.
Also any coach that starts at any school has kids that think they have the right to play, In my humble opinion it is the best thing that can happen, when a coach gets there and says “not one position is taken , if you want it you have to compete and earn it”. Team will be better, no doubt.

Last year was an exercise in culture change at BG, and this coming season, with the very green players of ’16 being one year bigger and more experienced, the area will once again see that Beltran is gold.
