@Disappointed Dad – Nothing wrong with bringing in competition.

What will you tell your son if he decides to play at the next level?

What will you do when he has to find a career? Tell him not to go into a competitive field because he may find competition.

Come on now!! Competition makes us better. What’s wrong with challenging your kids? What’s wrong with trying to build a better program.

Michael Jordan once said “You have competition every day because you set such high standards for yourself that you have to go out every day and live up to that.”

I’m in favor of unlimited recruiting tactics and unlimited transfers, even going so far as to transfer between teams at halftime, if junior can be driven to the other game site fast enough to do the second half for a squad that’s having a better night. See, we’re dealing with what you call a marketplace, and all the rules in the world won’t stop a determined parent/player from bouncing around anywhere they please. Let’s allow these guys to change places like Ping-Pong balls and see if they’re better off for the effort. Why be afraid of freedom?

@ Three Blind Mice: You’re right on the mark.
For years, the CIF Southern Section has been way too permissive on student-athlete transfers. (The Kurt Scoby case probably has been the most glaring example.)
There needs to be a crackdown on all forms of tampering and illegal recruiting.
I recognize the possibility that it might never happen, because the shady operators seem to have too much influence with the rule enforcers.
Could it be that illegal or unethical recruiting practices are OK as long as the individuals involved produce revenue for the CIF? There have to be some compelling reasons as to why this stuff has been permitted to continue for such a long time.

IN THE LAND OF THE BLIND THE ONE EYE MAN IS KING.

91 comments awesome there are still some football men out there in this valley all hope is not lost, as for a guy called Apache Joe, grow up little one.

And if bringing up insurance is having a bad outlook on life than you are a child, have you ever had to deal with a junior in high school who injured himself in a passing league game and lost his senior year. Why run the extra risk you SAP.

Or did you ever illegally recruit a kid to your school and then have him get caught and have his senior year lost while you went on coaching like nothing happened. and then moved on like you were a saint.

Your either a fool or a man with no life experience, high schools do so much work to get these guys cleared and to get all players insured its unreal the amount of paperwork and insurance and liabilities that are involved you are a boy in this world, IM VERY SURE YOU CANT GET CLEARED OR WERE NEVER ASKED, if you are a coach then shame on you for being so foolish.

Stop holding these guys sacks and let them speak for themselves. If you advertise for a free camp with players or on any blog at least take responsibility for your actions and the injuries that may arise.

No issues with guys moving on to wherever they want. but I feel if you recruit a kid and then him and his parent come forward after the fact that you were involved, then your worthless a&& should be done. for good , hows that super chief.

Dont play nice guy when your really the wolf, just take care of your S##T and stop trying to steal kids.

If these guys would spend the same amount of time getting their teams ready they would not need to have camps in December.

REMEMBER I WILL TELL YOU WHERE TO GO BECAUSE YOU ARE BLIND AND CANT SEE, BUT NOT VERY WELL BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE ONE EYE.

I hope coach Elias doesn’t have to deal with you on a regular, do you even know what you’re talking about!?!?
You know this isn’t his first gig right? He was an OC at Arcadia for 5 years and a DC for 1 before moving on to BP! Get a clue! I stated before that Schurr is lucky to have him. But if you’re a real spartan I feel bad for what he has to deal with over there!

Totally agree with your statement – college coaches don’t care about 7on7, period. – They only care about ability, grades and film. Save your money for your kids Christmas gifts, tutoring and/or retirement. It’s all a scam. A kid can improve with these workouts but it’s NOT a platform to jump into a scholarship or get recognition from college coaches. The local qb gurus will promote them but they prey on parents dreams for their kids. There are some good, reputable qb gurus or trainers out there but they’re hard to find. And yes these venues are used for recruiting or at least the hosting school and their coaches will try to recruit. Some gurus recruit for high schools too. All the 7on7 outfits are profit driven which is fine but DON’T THINK YOU’LL GET A SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE EXPERIENCE.
Don’t believe the hype. Do your research.
    Good luck parent and kids.

Bottom line, this is 100% recruiting tactic. If it wasn’t a way of getting n recruiting kids they wouldn’t do it. But who cares, parents take your kids there if you want. It’s a free camp for all, why not take advantage of it. I applaud these men for making an effort and if their intentions are to attract kids then so be it. Privates schools thrive of doing so. Wish more schools offered camps to the athletes in the area.

You really have a negative outlook on life. People have different means of helping, yes these men don’t use their time to feed the need, or maybe they do that do! You don’t know that, I’m sure they do that too. This is THEIR PLATFORM! And yeah it’s a free camp so tip these coaches… you don’t except freebee cuz your too prideful! Ha no free bees in hard work. The payment for these type of coaches is in the THANK YOU COACH they get everywhere they go. As I recall these men spent the majority of their time in one stop and yes they have been to a few different spots in the last years but TELL ME HOW MANY DIFFERENT JOBS HAVE YOU BEEN AT???!! Exactly!! Prob 10! Don’t judge these guys in their choice of job locations and taking a coaching job.

“LASTLY” they guys are probably teaching the fundamentals so THEY aren’t teaching kids other schemes and plays. Showing your little Bobby and Billy how to located a ball, throw a ball, high point a ball… but then again that was prob not what your HS coach did for them!

Remember this is optional so you don’t have to take your kids to their camp these camps are for kids who are interested in extra work or maybe just want to hang out and stay in shape.

IN THE LAND OF THE BLIND THE ONE EYED MAN IS KING, any man who believes there is such a thing as a free lunch is a fool and gets what he deserves.

Any man who takes his kid to a camp and doesn’t pay is either poor or a charity case or cheap. I always leave a tip when service is good, I did not believe in taking my children to free bees, I was raised to value a mans time and his work, my family doesn’t need a free meal.

And yes there are kids with no dads and no money but chances are they are not reading and they are not commenting on this blog, now real giving back would be the coaches putting in money for free shirts or cases of gatorade or having rides for all the kids with no dads who need rides, or the real issue getting some of these boys some real tutoring help right now in December.

And finally what coach needs to give back to a community, I don’t get it, there are homeless camps, with all types of issues that are a blight on the community that need help with family contacts, hygiene, places to sleep, there are shelters that need assistants, there are old folks homes where no one visits, there are cancer hospitals that need help with visits and donations actually I can list a hundred ways to give back to a community.

And you know what many coaches do those things and not say a word to anyone, they dont post it on a blog.

And for the N*T SUCKERS WHO KEEP SAYING HOW GREAT THESE COACHES ARE, GIVE IT A REST. great is getting to the finals sometimes and possibly winning once in a while great is staying someplace more than two or three years, great is letting your players and former players recruit for you. Hard working or passionate yes buy great coaches ? maybe in your mind.

And finally what if your kid is taught something different at this charity event than what his own coach believes ?, and lastly your own school should and most likely does do a back round check on all coaches, and i wonder who is doing the back round checks for these so called community events and giving back to the communities deals, many cant get cleared to coach in a district that’s why its so hard for some guys to get on a staff in high school, maybe the guys are all cleared, maybe that would be great.

Advertising for an event takes insurance and liability, that’s why I know this blog has done its homework on this charity event, could that possibly be the REASON why its FREE because you are assuming the risk and liability for your own kid. And to all you saints and community organizers it is cold now in the mornings and stretching both pre and post work out is essential to prevent injury and many kids I mean many end off tweaking tearing or popping something this late in the cold time of year just coming off a long season. Hopefully your insurance is in order, not to worry Schurr is handling the insurance in case anyone is hurt ? that’s why most camps charge for liability coverage.

BECAUSE YOU CANT SEE I WILL TELL YOU WHERE TO GO, BUT NOT VERY WELL BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE ONE EYE.

On the same note it’s yours and your staff to write report and inform of past sporting events which i mentioned you guys do an A+ job. I was responding on the way Tim was defending the camp.
