The Gladstone “camps” were probably way better cause they charged $5

Once upon a time every school offered summer programs for all kids every day in the summer. The gyms were open, the fields had pick up games and even the girls gathered safely to play board games and practice music. All supervised by credentialed teachers. Ah the good old days.

Prognosticators Anonymous, you ain’t lying. we lost some real talented kids to both of them schools. can’t really blame them, the district has been pushing good coaches away.

i love the fact of all these youth camps…. yes its “recruiting” in a diff way…
but i agree, if you aint doing these then you aint trying.
this is a great way to put back into your community, get these kids excited and comfortable in your home school…. PLUS ITS FREE!!!! what else can you ask for…
BP youth league should be all over this…

if you think about it.. if the HS hosted free camps for youth on a regular….. they would basically already be teaching the basic fundamentals of 3point stance ….. so you have less green freshman when the time comes… ALL SCHOOLS should be doing this (not just private schools) … sucks for coaches but…. this is the future and if you want to get kids… you have to start when they are young.

It’s the price of doing business these days. Perception is if you’re not doing these camps or 7on7, then you’re not really trying. Recruiting is becoming acceptable just as holding back kids to be a year older… it’s common practice.
Coach Knight is probably just trying to garner some excitement to his program to keep some of those kids. Northview and South Hills really benefited from BP being down.

With all these youth camps, it’s doubtful any advantage is gained by any particular program. The standard explanation for these gatherings seems to be that the coaches just want to help kids. But why ignore the senior citizen demographic? A special event could help geezers with stretching and strengthening, while encouraging them to attend games and help with fundraising. This is a serious suggestion: old is the new young.
