If I remember correctly, El Rancho was in the quarter finals 2 years ago with Llanes. Patino deserves a lot of credit for this year’s success, but from the looks of things, he did inherit a good ball club.
The first playoff win in 15 years, nothing else needs to be said. Llanes was in the finals 1 year and underachieved in league the last decade.
How did Ponytail get it right with Medrano and Patino? Madrano hasn’t done anything, he is still a question mark. Any new coach the third year is always the telling year. As for Patino, he made it to the Semis in Div. 5!! Llanes was in the finals 3 or 4 years ago. Patino did this with Llanes boys. Lets see where Slow Pain is in two years. As for Ponytail, him and the Board are a joke, teachers and families are leaving the district because of divisions they are making.

Look I like AJ, he’s a really good guy, I played baseball with him. ER softball has been mediocre to below average for a loooooong time, sometimes you gotta shake things up even if a well liked individual is collateral damage. I don’t know ponytail all too well and haven’t spoken to the guy in maybe a year, I’ve never heard the beltran story. We ended up with the better coach anyway.

We’re on the same side so I don’t want to get into an argument. But the softball team was just as bad this year. Think it might have something to do with talent and not coaching?Do you actually trust the ponytail? Just the fact that a board member tries to make hires is one of the most illegal things you can do in education.
I think medrano and Patino would have come over no matter what. But the board member just tells everyone how HE is the one who brought them over but whem they do something he doesn’t like, he’ll be the first one to talk crap. We all heard the story from him of how he didn’t hire Beltran because he was waiting for Medrano. That’s a bunch of B.S. He also says how he made Patino offers. Can you honestly say you like that guy? Even the Pico Boys do the best to make sure he doesn’t try to get on the board for little league but he thinks he knows best?
When was the last time ER softball did anything with AJ Reyes coaching? So far ponytail has landed Patino and Medrano, coaches for 2 of the most important sports in HS, not too shabby if you ask me.
Congratulations to AJ Reyes and Santa Fe for winning the CIF Championship in softball. Looks like the meddlesome school board at El Rancho got that one wrong big time! School board needs to let the schools run themselves. We’re all tired of hearing the ponytail talk! A guy who has never coached a high school sport in his life wants to make decisions about what people should or shouldn’t be doing.
