The actual rule is as long as a player is enrolled at a school, he can practice with the team. That does include 7 vs 7 competitions. That does not mean they are cleared to play in a game with the school.

@ CIF is a Joke: I share your disdain for the CIF Southern Section, especially regarding its “regulation” of high school football. Your question is a valid one which should be answered in a forthright manner.

The problem is most school’s do not verify that their new transfers actually moved into the area. We all have to deal with the non truths of new players. We have had more than a dozen that have came into our school with our new coach. It happens, unless the school’s admin is very strict which I doubt many are the problem will continue!
I also have to agree that private schools should have their league. With limitless boundaries its just not fair.

@ Everyone: Refrain from tampering, offering illegal inducements, and recruiting when it comes to student-athletes who are already enrolled at another high school. Athletic programs must renounce the practice of poaching players from other schools.
Programs which accept transfer players need to make sure that they are enrolled under their real names, and every public school should do what it can to verify that the addresses which are provided are legitimate (in all cases where residency is a factor).

Private high schools, which are not subject to attendance boundaries, have a lot more leeway. Consequently, they should be in leagues and playoff divisions that are entirely separate from those for public schools.
On an entirely ethical and moral level, private schools shouldn’t be poaching players from each other, or from public schools, either.

At the end of the day the kids are going to play where they want to play. It doesn’t matter how many CIF rules there are. The parents will find a way to make it happen. There are more schools suffering other than Cantwell, and if I’m not mistaken Cantwell is a private school isn’t it? They can always transfer to their “home” school and play ball.

Sounds like the Oiler fan is very upset with the Spartan coaches. I think he will be even more upset when his beloved Oilers are playing for third place in league play.
BG is going to beat the Oilers…… calling it now!
