The TEN: 10/26/2018

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1. The Dodgers will start Walker Buehler against the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the World Series Friday night at Dodger Stadium. The Red Sox, leading the series 2-0, will start Rick Porcello.

2. The Houston Texans beat the Miami Dolphins 42-23 on Thursday Night Football.

3. The Houston Rockets offer the Minnesota Timberwolves four future first round draft picks for All-Star Jimmy Butler.

4. The NFL fired official Hugo Cruz for performance reasons. Cruz, a down judge, missed an obvious false start by LA Chargers left tackle Russell Okung on a scoring play in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

5. The Toronto Blue Jays hired Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Charlie Montoyo to be their new manager.

6. Crescenta Valley at Arcadia, Friday night, 7:00 p.m.

7. The Glendale-Hoover game, scheduled for Thursday night, was cancelled due to safety precautions. There were rumors of demonstrations during the homecoming festivities.

8. The Minnesota Twins hired Rocco Baldelli as their new manager. Baldelli, 37, a former Tampa Bay Rays player and assistant coach, will be the youngest manager in the major leagues.

9. On this day in 2000, the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets 4-2 at Shea Stadium to win the World Series in five games.

10. “I still can’t get over how EARLY this thing is wrapping-up. Most people haven’t even bought their Halloween candy yet! Heck, we’re still wearing shorts while Vrooman is making his yearly consolation comments.” – MVS Commenter “Trick or Treat.”

As I said to “Trick or Treat” yesterday, on another thread: Happy Halloween, and I’ll throw in Dia de los Muertos for good measure.
If Alhambra gets that win over Mark Keppel tonight—and it should—that would give the Moors an 8-2 record. I’ll gladly accept that record, regardless of how the playoff situation turns out. We have made considerable progress this season.
I believe most programs would be happy to go 8-2; it would be more than a mere consolation for them.

Trick or Treat’s timing is a little off. His attempt at a belittling remark is about a year late.

It’s unfortunate that even though Cole Doyle lives next to Hoover that he decided to play at Crescenta Valley….he could have really helped the Hoover program

In answer to NWO, there was a plan to demonstrate nuclear fusion at halftime, with the homecoming king and queen throwing the switch to start the reaction. School officials felt the respective programs had been in meltdown long enough already, so the game was shelved.

Weird that Glendale-Hoover would be scheduled for a Thursday when CV is playing away this week. I know nobody cares about those teams, but that is such a weird situation, and of course the Hoover and GUSD admins are trying hard to keep a lid on things, so who really knows what is going on.

    What kind of demonstration?
From T. Peterson: The admin won’t say. Keeping it under wraps.
