1. The Dodgers hit six home runs in a 12-8 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

2. Dodger outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger is elected to the All-Star Game.

3. The Lakers sent Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to the Washington Wizards to complete the Anthony Davis deal making it a three-team trade. With the deal and also Davis waiving his $4 million trade bonus, the Lakers have created a maximum salary slot of $32 million in free agency.

4. Free agent Kawhi Leonard will allow the Toronto Raptors to make the final presentation among the teams meeting with him next week in Los Angeles.

5. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill met with NFL investigators for eight hours amid an investigation of Hill into possible child abuse.

6. The Rowland Tournament, The Bonita Air Assault and the West Covina Linemen Tournament are all scheduled for this Saturday.

7. LeBron James is giving up his uniform number 23 to the new Lakers teammate Anthony Davis.

8. Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who many consider the best player in baseball, has never participated in the Home Run Derby.

9. On this date in 2012 Anthony Davis was the first overall pick in the NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans.

10. Former Denver Bronco/ Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway turns 59 today.

    Elway better start stretching and suit up if he wants another Lombardi. Hard to believe Denver can’t get a top QB.

    The essence of what happened with this Laker deal is that Davis bought jersey number 23 for $4 million. Had it been me, I would have refused the embroidery rights, saying I wouldn’t think of taking something so precious from the world’s best player. Instead, I’d settle for something more pedestrian in nature, such as one of Lebron’s Blaze Pizza franchises.
