Yes EM did have a close game against Arroyo just like the game you had against Polytechnic that’s a rival game. So don’t count your chickens before they hatch

We will win the D12 Championship and nobody will stop us. Not even the transfers over at EM can beat us. They should have lost to arroyo. Btw Arroyo has been missing two players all season so no excuses.

RHP beat one playoff team in Arroyo and from the boards they weren’t at full strength. But you still win that I don’t think it’s a 40+ point different. So should probably calm down a bit.

    @CR?

It’s kinda hard to win when you have to use your own players! Your DC should be churning milk for all that Swiss Cheese he served up this year. As for your OC, He was so predictable it was a joke. BG handled you guys pretty easily so just put your gear away and start getting ready for next year… Plain and simple..

Rio Hondo will have a tough 1st round game but it will win the D12 Championship. One heck of a team. Look at all their wins just outstanding.

All three MVL teams hosting first round games is pretty darn cool right.

I can’t give an honest prediction for these games so I won’t. I’ll just root for all three MVL teams to win.

One team I believe got screwed was Rio Hondo Prep. That is one heck of a first round game. Don’t be shocked if the winner of this game is a finalist.

Good luck to all the teams that made it to the playoffs. Some may not agree and the debate will continue who and why some teams made it or not but you are there. Play with enthusiasm and play with pride because you represent your school. We are all proud of you. May God bless you and keep you safe.

(“The TEN” is not a top ten…a what the heck..)

    1. Bishop Amat is a D1 program, 8th seed..remaining D1 is the only reason kids will attend Bishop. Otherwise what’s the point! Hagerty don’t join the “wish we were in D2” crowd…don’t do it! A D2 appearance would be a death Sentence if you don’t win it…

    2. Stop stating “who you lost to” and start stating “who you beat…” The proverbial “quality loss” is laughable.

    3. No system is perfect, CIF did reward teams from tough leagues…Bonita,
South Hills, Pasadena, La Salle, Lakewood …Oh and the entire Trinity League lol.

    4. Warren received a great draw! You rarely get the chance to play a team twice. Upset alert?!

    5. Sierra Canyon has never beat Monrovia. Facts.

    6. Playoffs… Playoffs…Salesian is in the playoffs? What division?

    7. at Large Teams are dangerous.

    8. This year feels like a “banner year” for the El Monte Program. If Booth was a Jr, I’d say they could possibly win a title next year! Where do you find another Booth , next year though?

    9. Mirror Mirror on the wall …please tell me that John Muir is a lock to win it all (D11).

    10. The top comment the day after the brackets come out… “CIF GOT IT WRONG”!!!

If Cif had any integrity they would fix this injustice or at least explain it to high school football fans. I mean Salesian lost to Cantwell and there only win was against the barely breathing Verbum Dei team -34 rating. Who is getting paid here, Guliani?

Amat is not a division one team anymore.. D2 or D3 and they have a chance to be CIF Champions.. Arroyo has always had good teams.. comes from that coaching staff they have… they get the best out of there players.. year in and year out it shows…it’s good to see El Monte and Rosemead representing the Mission Valley League…

It’s time to restructure a few leagues as well.
The pacific and Rio Hindi need to be looked at.
Monrovia needs to go to pacific. Glendale and hoover to the rio Hondo.
There are a few more leagues which should be looked at any suggestions?

I’m not whining about “my team” being placed in the wrong division. It’s that the whole thing doesn’t make a lot of sense. Teams are being seeded based on the strengths and weaknesses of teams that may or may not have something to do with their current iterations. Rather than assigning teams to divisions (i.e, Burbank higher than CV no matter how good either is), it would have made a lot more sense to have tied league positions to divisions. Pacific League 1 in Division 7, PL 2 in D8, MVL #1 in D10, MVL #3 in D14. And then let the teams fill them out as they may. I mean, if Cary Harris hires Coach Maxie and pulls in a bunch of great players to Glendale, and they go on a run that no one sees coming and dominate their league, does it make sense that the Pacific League champion should be playing in D14?

@ Grim Reaper, I agree on almost all your points. I think El Monte might pull it off. Good takes!

I hate this current playoff system. For instance, in Division 9, Bonita and New Port Harbor were ranked 2 and 3 respectively for the entire year. However, in the playoffs they’re 14 and 15 seeds. Hows is that reconciled or make any sense.

Also, I think it was a tragedy that Rowland did not make the playoffs after having a good season.

Although the old system would have kept Sierra Canyon in the old Mid Valley. Now they are where they are suppose to be.

M-town could not be more pleased with our draw.

Santa Fe is not a pushover game, but Monrovia should win that one easily.

Bo hi fan, 3rd place is 3rd place. Some years leagues are tougher than others. The positve spin is that Bonita is battle tested. As for the Wildcats… our league is not strong, so we find out what we have in the first round. That is very dangerous. Div 9 is pretty strong. There are no gimmes in the first round and the 2nd round is going to be tough.
Friday is going to be eventful.

Shout out to El Monte, Alhambra, for having historic season..and PHS for turning it around.

I also think Muir/ CV and PHS should have been in D9 with Monrovia , Bohi, San Dimas etc… D10 and D11 are too easy for them. There is a lot of pressure on those schools to win it. If they don’t, they are going to lose a lot of future kids. If you can’t win there…oh my

We now have fourteen divisions, bracketed in ways no sane man can comprehend, including some 1-9 teams! To eliminate needless discussion, how about letting ALL teams into the playoffs? This way, nobody can piss and moan over not getting a shot, and CIF will score a MINT. Better yet, make the first rounds best-of-three. Teams like Glendale, Keppel and Pioneer would stay around for the better part of a month, while family and friends of the players dutifully pay the gate fees to see their jocks cavort on the field of glory. This scenario isn’t anything crazier than what’s happening in our houses of governance these days, so it’s high time to go wild.

When the system was made Arroyo was a lot better and got as high as D8 which I think was too high. They have a real good coach and kids and work hard for them and win year in and year out. EM has had two real good years and will look to build on it. They got close this year maybe in two years all the kinks should be worked out and team should be in good divisions

sierra canyon is finally in a proper division. Just think a few years ago it was in the Mid Valley division, that was a gift. Put the privates in div 1 and let them settle who God likes better.

Good luck to Monrovia, we still hate you but since you are in a different division we can offer you our best wishes.

good luck to el Monte, but I still don’t see a championship.

Good luck to all the one and done’s, someone has to be the human sacrifice, but who knows? there have been break even teams that have gone deep! got to love the underdog!

good luck to all the we got a bad draw whiner’s, just win the first game and you will have a easy draw the rest of the way! Is that glass half full?

Good luck to all that say the refs robbed them, next week.. The refs dont care if you win or lose, Play better so they are not a factor.. Otherwise better luck next year.

I’m still fascinated by the stupidity that puts a team like El Monte in a lower division than Arroyo because Arroyo used to be the better team. Ditto Muir/CV and Burbank, Arroyo and Montebello, and probably plenty of other such teams.

Did we get punished for being a 3rd place team in the tough Palomares. We have to travel to past champion Highland in the 1st round. Highland probably not to thrilled with it’s draw either. That’s playoff football. Thinning of the herd.
