Pac 12 Postpones all Fall Sports

Are you looking forward to a nice October Saturday afternoon at the iconic Coliseum in Los Angeles? How about a Saturday evening with a beautiful view at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena? Well you can forget about that. At least for this year.

The Pac 12 Conference has unanimously voted to postpone all sports, including football and basketball, until the end of the year due to concerns regarding the coronavirus. Our Saturdays in the fall watching USC and UCLA football will have to wait. There is a possibility that football could be played in the spring as the conference will reevaluate the situation after January 1, 2021 but at this point nothing is guaranteed.

We posted the USC schedule last week when the Pac 12 released the football schedules for all of the conference schools. But like everything else in 2020 that was more hope than reality. The announcement today pushes everything back to 2021 and even that may not happen.

“The health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes and all those connected to Pac-12 sports has been our number one priority since the start of this current crisis,” Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “Our student-athletes, fans, staff and all those who love college sports would like to have seen the season played this calendar year as originally planned, and we know how disappointing this is.”

And the nightmare of 2020 continues.

@ On the Bright Side: I offer two things for you to consider:

    1. The Pac-12 might have a football season early next year. Of course, that’s the best possible scenario; we’ll see if it happens.

    2. You should stop drinking the conspiracy-theory Kool-Aid.
If anyone is inclined to utilize a “Deep State” apparatus, such as it exists in this country, it’s our current president. Donald Trump is a wannabe dictator who has continually shown his admiration for authoritarian leaders. His behavior should be of great concern to anyone who values democracy and the rule of law.
Who else do you believe is a stooge, compared to President Trump? The fact Vladimir Putin is trying to help him get re-elected suggests to me that Trump is a world-class stooge. A presidential candidate in the U.S. should not have to rely on interference by a foreign power to win an election.

Bright Side is a perfect example of the selfishness of today’s America. Even if the Dems win the conspiracy loonies will not change. They will arm themselves and never adopt anti virus measures. If their leader is gone they will follow the edicts of the great and powerful Q-Anon or a witch doctor. They probably will not vaccinate and claim it is a tool of the Deep State. And who is the Deep State that they hate and fear so much? IMO it is people of color like Harris and Obama and OC etc.

High school stud athletes better stop hitting the weight room and start hitting the books. Free rides for college athletes are becoming at lightning speed a thing of the past. Colleges are hemorrhaging cash and need to find ways to make money and sports will not be the way for a long time if ever again. This virus with its constant mutations seems unbeatable for now. By the time a vaccine is proven Covid 19 will be something different. You boys better quit with the video games and learn the finer points of remote education or get left behind by the new studs, the nerds.

OK, so the season’s cancelled. BUT: Clay Helton gets to avoid meeting the athletic director on the tarmac in November, so it’s not all doom and gloom. In a similar fashion, the Democratic party now has two stooges both willing to take orders from their Deep State sponsors, which is mighty fine indeed.
