3. Georgia starting quarterback Jamie Newman has opted out of the 2020 season due to coronavirus concerns. USC transfer JT Daniels is the favorite to replace Newman.

4. The Houston Rockets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-102 Wednesday night in Game 7 of the Western Conference playoff series. Houston will face the Lakers in the second round.

5. The Brooklyn Nets hired Steve Nash as their new head coach.

6. Former legendary Dodger announcer Vin Scully made his debut on social media with a video announcement on Twitter.

7. The New England Patriots named Cam Newton as their starting quarterback and a new team captain.

8. Former Dodgers catcher/Hall of Famer Mike Piazza turns 52 today.

9. Memphis Grizzles guard Ja Morant won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

10. Happy Birthday to Northview head football coach Marcel Perez who celebrated his 40th yesterday September 3rd.
