All kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Friday November 12

DIV 4

Lawndale (6-3) at La Serna (9-2) (California)

La Serna is finding its groove at the right time. The Lancers haven’t lost since August. La Serna advances to the Semis.

DIV 7

Pasadena (8-2) at La Mirada (7-4)

La Mirada rallied to beat Golden Valley last week while the Bulldogs cruised over Thousand Oaks. The Matadores have been historically good under head coach Mike Moschetti but this is new territory for upstart Pasadena. That being said Pasadena has too many weapons for La Mirada. The Mats keep it close but the Bulldogs move on.

St. Pius/St. Matthias (9-2) at Rio Hondo Prep (10-1)

Big win for Rio Hondo Prep last week against Charter Oak. Hard to imagine the Kares having a letdown against St. Pius/St. Matthias. Both teams have had memorable years and will come to play but Rio Hondo Prep comes out on top.

DIV 9

St. Margaret’s (7-4) at San Dimas (8-3)

St. Margaret’s has absolutely rolled its last five opponents. Early in the season the Tartans stayed with playoff teams St. Paul and La Mirada before falling by only 10 points in each game. San Dimas fell to Northview down the stretch and struggled to beat Los Altos and Diamond Ranch. The Saints beat West Covina by two touchdowns last week. San Dimas will be in it until the end but St. Margaret’s holds on.

DIV 10

Kaiser (5-5) at Northview (5-6) (Covina District Field)

Kaiser has a devastating running game. Kaiser set a school record last week against South Torrance rushing for 648 yards and six touchdowns. That’s going to be tough for Northview to stop. Big win for the Vikings last week against Garden Grove but their season ends this week. Kaiser runs into the third round.

DIV 12

Compton (5-5) at Walnut (8-3)

Great year for Walnut who comes in hot having won four straight and six of its last seven. The Mustangs started off the playoffs last week with a 17-0 shutout of Santiago. Compton has been up and down. The Tarbabes have outscored their last two opponents 110-0 but early in the season they were on the short end of 52-0 and 44-0 routs. Both teams are evenly matched. Walnut kicks a late field goal to win it.

DIV 3

Glendora (11-0) at Apple Valley (8-3)

Maybe the best game of the weekend. Glendora is undefeated and coming off a big win over Downey. Apple Valley is coming off a big win over Citrus Valley last week and has the home field advantage. Winning on the road in the second round in Division 3 is always a tough task. Brandon Roher said his Tartans are on a mission and I believe him.

DIV 10

Palmdale (6-3) at Covina (7-3) (Covina District Field)

Covina has quietly had a big year. The Colts won the Sierra League and had a nice opening round win last week against Laguna Hills. Palmdale played a tough schedule that included wins over Quartz Hill to finish the regular season and a victory of West Torrance last week to open the playoffs. It will be close throughout with Palmdale holding on in the end.

Interesting So Pasadena goes from almost not making the playoffs by pulling a rabbit out of their hat on a last second drive.. to looking like a CIF champ. Funny how things work out.

It really helps to be in division 13 .. eh Alhambra?

Good luck to SP it has been a very very long time looking from the outside in..
