Andy’s Rants – July 5, 2010

Free Kobi! The most sought after free-agent wasn’t in Cleveland this weekend, he was at Cooney Island.  Takeru Kobayashi sat out this year’s famed Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest at the famed Brooklyn Amusement Park because the MLE couldn’t come to terms with the six-time champion.

Of course, the circus that transpired after Joey “The Jaw” Chestnut claimed his fourth-straight Eating Belt was something you could only hope to see in the WWE.

Kobayashi’s arrest was laughable, actually more moronic then anything. It wasn’t like he was going to attack Chestnut.  What was he going to pull?  A bigger hot dog?

I honestly don’t know what is more unbearable these days.  Lebron Watch 2010.  Or the fact we actually received news that Kobayashi pleaded “not guilty”.

As far as the LeBron James Sweepstakes, color me unimpressed.  Quite frankly could care less.

Toying with the emotions of the state of Ohio is plain wrong.  It is like the hot girl that knows the ugly guy likes her.  She was only around when she needed something.

In this case James played in Cleveland to showcase his talents to another suitor.  Problem is the other teams are trying to show him the keys to the Porsche but have a Gremlin behind the curtain.

The Knicks and Nets are two teams in complete disrepair that need to completely re-build with the draft and free-agents that don’t cost a “King’s Ransom”.

The Bulls and Heat have pieces to the puzzle that would benefit James, but would still leave him without a title.

The Cavaliers had the best record in the NBA last season with a mish-mash roster.  Imagine what they could do if they re-signed James and were able to get a mid-priced free-agent like Ray Allen.  They would be able to compete for a title this year.
