No need for that put on big boy pants and beat these guys. Centennial Corona and Poly are public Schools and have beat the private Schools stop with the crying people. All Schools get kids from out of the school district it is what it is. Get your school to recruit also.
@ shooter?
Who cares? If they win then let’s congratulate them. Schurr is slime. MHS is streaky. BG is the best of the bunch (this year). SG got hot when it counted….
Instead of being bitter old men, has been, or never has. Just be happy for the young men playing the game they love. You only play and try and beat who ever you line across from. Let them be proud of their accomplishments. And leave it at that!
SG lost to schurr badly, montebello and BG but is about to win CIF lol hilarious
@ RAMS FAN: That’s a good proposal. This is an issue that CIF can’t ignore, if it’s truly interested in competitive equity.
As you indicated, parochial and other private high schools aren’t constrained by attendance boundaries like public schools; they should’ve been placed in their own separate divisions a long time ago.
CIF should concentrate on individual sports. Team sports have been co-opted by the adults more interested in money. Africans from poor countries are still the best distance runners in the world. You can be a great track star or wrestler or tennis player from anywhere. But adults that want a piece of a great runner or golfer will always try to get their mitts on them.
@Professional Division
I don’t disagree with you but a private schools territory is basically California. How do you determine what a recruit is for them? The criteria would be different for public/private schools don’t you think? Perhaps they should have their own divisions based on attendance numbers and keep them separated from the publics.
Inglewood rose from Division 13 to Division 2 in just three years. We live in interesting times, on a variety of levels.
@ Professional Division: I agree with you philosophically, but it seems that Division 1 in the CIF Southern Section has been just that: a grouping of high-rolling programs that recruit much of the elite football talent in the region.
And, yes, the teams in Division 1 are essentially semipro teams compared to the vast majority of the other high school programs. CIF never should have let it get this far out of hand.
But if you could get 10 recruits and be in a CIF finals you’ll take it so stop!
And then we have division one, where the super recruits of MD and Bosco will play each other for a second time this season, soon to become a third time in the state tourney. CIF is milking tickets sales for all it’s worth, but I say don’t bother. These guys don’t play for the community, the coaches or the school….it’s all about big bucks and fame. I’ve said before, but it bears repeating that schools with more than 10 recruits need to be in a grouping all by themselves, such as we see with the 8 and 6 man categories.
