  2. Auburn hired former Mississippi/ Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze as its new head football coach. 
  3. Christian Pulisic scored in the 38th minute to lift the U.S. soccer team to a 1-0 win over Iran Tuesday in the World Cup. The United States advances to the second round and will play Netherlands Saturday. 
  4. Texas quarterback Hudson Card will enter the NCAA transfer portal. 
  5. Covina is looking to fill a Week Zero home game with a comparable division opponent. DM Covina HS Athletics on Twitter if interested. 
  6. Former Norwalk star/ New York Giants fullback Elijhaa Penny officially retired from the NFL after six seasons. Penny spent his first three years with the Arizona Cardinals and was with the Giants the last three years. 
  7. Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara has entered the NCAA transfer portal. 
  8. UNLV fired head football coach Marcus Arroyo after three seasons. The Rebels were 5-7 this year and 7-23 under Arroyo during his three-year stint.

  10. Rams wide receiver Allen Robinson suffered a season ending foot injury Sunday and needs surgery.

    As asst. coaches are the life blood of high school football that the HC is scouring the bushes for so many coaches to help him means there are wholesale defections at Monrovia or he is looking for guys that bring transfers with them. I think the latter.
