  1. Former Lakers guard/ NBA/ WNBA head coach Derek Fisher has been named the head basketball coach at Crespi. 
  2. The Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 Tuesday night to improve to 66-46 on the year and moved 5 games ahead of the second place San Francisco Giants in the NL West.
  3. With a 7-5 win over the Giants on Tuesday the fourth place Angels snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved to 57-58 overall but are still 11.5 games behind the first place Texas Rangers in the AL West. 
  4. The Atlanta Braves have the best record in baseball at 71-40. 
  5. Cornerback Dakoda Fields, who had committed to USC, changed his mind and flipped to Oregon Monday night. 
  6. All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor has left the Indianapolis Colts training camp to continue rehabbing his ankle injury. 
  7. The number two overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, Jabari Parker, signed with FC Barcelona, the team announced Monday. 
  8. On this date in 1988 the LA Kings acquired Wayne Gretzky and two other players from the Edmonton Oilers for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, and the Kings first-round draft picks in 1989, 1991 and 1993, as well as $15 million in cash. 
  9. Colorado head football coach/ NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders turns 56 today. 
  10. Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox was suspended for six games and Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians was suspended for three games by MLB for their involvement in a brawl between the two teams last Saturday night.

    Fisher lowering himself to coach high school hoops? Isn’t that an admission of ineptitude?
