  1. The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani became the first player in AL/NL history to hit 40 plus home runs and record 10 plus wins in a season. 
  2. Michael Lorenzen of the Philadelphia Phillies threw a no-hitter in a 7-0 win over the Washington Nationals Wednesday night. 
  3. Due to the Football stadium renovation at El Rancho High School, the Dons will play three of their home games at Whittier College and two at Pioneer High School. 
  4. With the wildfires in Maui, the nine-day trip of the Edison High School football team, which included two games in Maui, has been canceled. 
  5. Former Las Vegas Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison Wednesday for a November 2021 drunken driving crash which killed a Las Vegas woman and her dog. 
  6. Detroit Lions running back Justin Jackson announced his retirement from the NFL after five years. Jackson played for the Lions last year after spending his first four years with the Chargers. 
  7. San Franciso 49ers receiver/returner Ray-Ray McCloud broke his left wrist Tuesday and will be out for two months. 
  8. Dodgers’ pitcher Walker Buehler faced live batters Wednesday for the first time since having arm surgery more than a year ago. 
  9. The Chargers will face the Rams this Saturday at SoFi Stadium at 6:00 p.m. to kick off the preseason.

    #5 Even if he serves the max 10 years, seems like a pretty weak sentence for taking a life. Good behavior and he’s out in 18 months. Ridiculous!
